    Is camping gone

Any of u guys remember in the good old days when we were sitting at our consoles and computers and our friend(or enemy) would declare "dude ur camping!!" this hasn't happened to me for a long time. has camping been accepted as a snipers only tactic but its okay for them. state ur opinions on this subject

(Note:for those of u too inept to breath correctly camping is staying in one very good position for long periods of time and pwning while u do)

    Re: Is camping gone

People who bitch about someone "camping" in bf2 need to be shot. Preferrably by a camper.
"Camping" a narrow alley is what the support guy is best at.
"Camping" in a hidden spot without moving until you're seen is how AA vehicles are used most effectively.
"Camping" is what a sniper will often do.
"Camping" can be a very efficient way of defending a flag.
    I give "camping" a thumbs-up.

Camping is scorned at in CS because the goal of that game is to kill everyone on the other team.

Camping in BF2 is normal because the goal of BF2 is to win the battle, w/e stradgy works is acceptable. That include camping choke point, camping flag, in BF2, they are called "tactics"

To understand, do you call CS terrorists defending the bomb they planted "campers"?

        100% agreed.

Camping in earlier FPS's was frowned upon because they were mainly all Death Match button mashing fests. A game like BF2 where you need to employ some different tactics for your team to win I think is widely excepted.

I have been called a camper in BF2 many times though. The camping comments come when I keep killing the same person or group of people so they can't take my CP Flag (which oddly enough, they keep coming for!) Some people just don't grasp the need to defend the critical map point or CP Flag of which I love to do when playing my favourite kit the Engineer.

I dont mind defending flags, or snipers holding an area, etc.

What ****es me the FUKC off is when tanks/apcs/attack choppers sit 5 feet from the "capture zone" and purposely blow the heads off of everyone there without even TRYING to neutralize the flag. Exception given to the chopper because thats flat out suicide. But the tank/apc should get off their point whoring ass and get in there and take the flag and stop STAT PADDING. Yes, i consider camping 5 feet from the cap zone to be stat padding, because there is no reason to do it other than to rack up the kills.

Thereby draining tickets and helping to win the game, which is what separates it from true stat padding..

I couldn't disagree more. Armor/apc strolling into the cap zone with guns blazing is a recipe for certain death. I see it happen all the time, and love it when I'm defending a flag and see a tank/apc roll into my "kill zone" ( I play spec ops and c4 is my weapon of choice) Ideally a tank should provide suppression fire while infantry assaults the flag. It's the combined arms method of effective combat. If you don't like it, then maybe you should spawn at another flag.

I do that as a tankist all the time. I also circle flags alone in a blackhawk without ever capping.
                        Why?
Taking the flag will sometimes do you no good. Your team is too uncoordinated to spawn at the newly captured point and hold it, or too busy elsewhere.
So as a tankist, I'll just prop myself up in a good position and keep mowing them with my .50 and shells, costing them tickets and teaching them not to come there as long as I'm there. Especially in an evenly matched battle the ticket bleed can help a lot. After dying a real lot repeatedly they also usually take the hint and spawn elsewhere. Then I can comfily let my turret gunner take the flag and move out elsewhere, without endangering my tank.

And if it ****es you off so much, then you should probably just spawn elsewhere or get help to take out the vehicle that bothers you.
I'm sorry, but I think ticket bleeding the enemy team is a totally legit tactics, it can help your team win a lot and will also either divert attention to you, or clean out the flag in question for good for a few minutes.
