    Odd freezing/lockup in game.

Hello everyone, recently I've been playing BF2 and during actual gameplay on a map, the game freezes and the audio loops over and over for quite a long time. This seems to happen once every 4 minutes or so. I have found that if it starts doing that, I press alt+tab and after a few seconds it will actually tab out to another program. Once I tab back in right away, the game is running back to normal. I then get the same lock up another 3-6 minutes later though.

My system specs are as follows:
    CPU:AMD64 3200+
    Video: ATI Radeon 9800pro
    RAM: 1gb PC3200 Corsair
    PSU: 450W

Heat shouldn't be an issue here because it isn't for any other game and I've checked it out, only gets to around 45-50C on full load.

I'm really stumped on what the problem is here so any help would be appreciated.

If you have your textures on high then 1GB of RAM is not enough, down this to medium (you won't see much of a difference).

The most common reason for the infamous stutter/freeze issue, particularly with (but not limited to) nForce boards, is that your soundcard and video card are sharing an IRQ.

The simplest solution is with the aid of your MB manual, make sure you put your soundcard in a slot whose IRQ line is not being used by your AGP slot.

You can also reroute the IRQ lines (usually) via your BIOS settings.

To see your current IRQ mappings, view your "System Infomation." (Run --> msinfo32.exe) Once up, just open up the "Hardware Resources-->IRQs" pane.
