Latest bug/hack whatever...

This has recently been happening a lot to me on Karkand. As commander, when you look at your map all of a sudden everyone starts yelling enemy boat/helicopter/jet spotted (obviously none of those are available on karkand). The strangest thing is that they actually do appear on the scan and uav, but not one or two, but two or three dozen... They're not actually there but everyone can see the blinking red icons of jets, helis, and RIBS on the mini-map... Anyone else encounter this?

Hold Q, right click, and you can select something to spot. Everyone in your squad, as well as the commander, will see whatever unknown you've spotted in their map.

Not a bug, hack, or anything of the sort. It's been there since the game was first released.

there are no jets / helis / boats on karkand, how can you spot two dozen jets on your mini-map?

He just told you.
when you hold Q and right click it gives you a list of things to spot.
If you spot any of those it will put the corresponding icon on the minimap.

It's not a hack, it's someone thinking they are being funny because they spotted a boat/chopper/plane on a map that doesn't have one.

In Battlefield 1942 people used to spot submarines and whatnot on ground maps with no water. It's the same thing.

ok maybe i wasnt clear, this happens at RANDOM, everyone on the server (8 players on 16 player server) confirmed that they were not calling out a specific unit, all ot once 24 jets appear all over the map even in the out of bounds territories

It's a prank, you can spam as many targets as you want, they don't even have to be there. One guy can do it, or if he is really organized he can have a friend do it at the same time. neither one has to admit that they did it, but the one with the flashing yellow dot, is the one who did it.

If you are close enough to hear him, you will also see his name pop up when he says it. IRT#1 you said there are no boats on Karkand. Isn't there a boat on the 64 player size?

it is so, that is what they did. I've seen it done plenty of times before by idiots. Just try it for yourself, and you will see you spot an enemy jet or whatever and that symbol will pop up on your mini map, same with everyone elses.

I wish there was a plane on that map I would go AWOL and fly away from the terrible reality of war..... :<

i just thought it was strange for so many to pop up at the same time, especially way out of borders

probably not hard to do if you have a macro bound for it, like some of the guys with their jump-c4 or jump-dive-crouch-jump-dive macros.
