Reinstalling..

well i had a great day today.
Picked up my comp from the shop, had anew motherboard and 2 gigs of RAm put in it.
Well I get it home, set it up, pop in Bf2 disk and then click the icon, I get the "invalid key" bull sh*t. Ok I try the fixes etc.. so finally I say F*ck it and go for the reinstall.

I go to my program list and uninstall Bf2 and BF2:SF.
then before I go to re-install I think.."hmm lemme check something" I go do a hardware scan on a site.
Tells me I got 256 RAM..!!
I pop my case open..yep, 1 stick of 256
WTF, i call the place dude tells me he forgot, but I can pick up my RAM later tonight, says he'll have it emergency delived by 7pm, and tells me to just take it home and pop it in myself..what a friggin douche bag, Im thinking the tool tried to rob me, i mean he basically did since I paid him to do work and now I gotta put my sh*t in myself.

But i do have a few quick questions...

When i did the uninstall of BF2 I forgot to check the box that said "uninstall profiles"...will that hinder me reinstalling??
When I reinstall will I have to do all the patches over, or just the latest one?
What are the chances the "CD invalid key" crap will go away once I re-install, I still have my keys.
And why the heck am I havign Key problems when all I did was upgrade my Mother Bo. and RAM?
And lastly, with a Vanilla 6800 and 2gig of RAM, what graphic setting would be the best for smooth game play. With 512 and the 6800 I played on all low and never ever had the slightest lag or low fps, but I wanna up my graphics and keep the fluidness...will teh RAM upgrade help this or is it all my Vid card?

the ram will help out alot. the video card im not sure bout. just try diff settings and see what works best. i have 2 gigs of ram and a ati x800 pro and can run all of my settings on high with a little AA thrown in for good measure. and people that dont help why post at all. u are like the dregs of society

Problem should go away. The issue is that starting with patch 1.03 EA started encrypting the CD key in the registry (was plain text before that). The encryption is tied to the user account and probably hardware (like the Windows XP activation which you may also have to redo). So, you can't play BF2 using a different account from the one that installed the patch and would have similar problems after changing major hardware.
