XfX Geforce 6800GS OC'ed review so far.

Ok guys I got my Geforce 6800GS OC yesterday and guess what? Until ATI litterally stuns me with some kind of Area 51 technology, I am back to Nvidia for life!
I installed the card, and let me tell you it is hefty, it has a cooling vane that runs down the outside of the card. It has a big beefy 12V 6-pin SLI powerport on the back, and a great big turbine fan. It is a solid card, not at all cheezy looking.
Installation was a snap, d/l the latest drivers from Nvidia's website, reeeboot, and viola, ready to play. First I enabled 2x AA and forced it to 75Hz
Went into the game, set the AA and resolution up, restarted the game and OMG! It is beautiful! No more artifacts (little spots and jags on the screen), smooth texturing, no stutter or chatter at all. Ready for the best part? The night levels don't suck anymore. Half of the time you don't even need your NVGS (didn't touch the GAMMA). It is like a whole new game. My sniping is better than ever, I can pick out details at much further distances and the aiming seems more precise. (More to come)(screenshots to follow)

Glad your happy. I got the 6600gt, since I didn't have too much money, and that worked well for me :) - not perfect, but the best I could of got from an AGP card.

I had almost exactly the same experience with my new xfx 7800GTX 256mb OC. I also got it yesterday. Installed it. Got the drivers and set everything to max. OMG i'm hitting 99.9 fps!!! (in quiet corners of the map) its around 80 everywhere else. ima happy bunny (non hopper ), especially as im coming from a standard 9600 128mb.

yeah i have that card aswell, but why do u need to overclock???

Mine was OC'ed out of the box. It is just something that XfX does.

Stupid question time.

I am guessing that the factory overclocked cards are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Where as taking a stock 6800 and clocking to the same levels (If it could be done) would void it?!

Is that right?

Curently my 6800 is set (Factory) at 300 core & 600 memory.

I have clocked it (using cool bits) to 520 core and 850 memory (Using the detect optimal) with no ill effects (Temp increase was marginal at best) But I took it back down as Grapically I didnt 'notice' a change worth possibly destroying the card (Not in the situation where I can go pick up a new one).

Can I ask what the OC'd out of the box one came set at?

When I OCed me single 6800gs, I got much better performance! But when I put two in Sli, and OCed to the same speeds, my performance was worse than two cards in SLi non-OCed.

you usually get between 30-70mhz overclock out of the box
a few fps at best
