v1.12 Patch problems

I've just bought the game and it was working very good.

Then I was recommended to download the v1.12 patch. I did so, but when I installed it i got the message "Patching Failed". Directly afterwards the message "Patch successfully installed!" comes up.
When I start the game the screen turns dark and the cd begins to read as if the game is starting but then suddenly I'm thrown back to the desktop. I tried to reinstall both the game and patch but without a change.

If anyone knows why it is doing this, please help me!

uninstall and reinstall, then repatch I would say, if patching failed then there is a problem.

is it really my system the problem? just asking because the game worked perfectly before I installed the patch.

yes there is a problem. i have reinstalled the game about 9-10 times by now. i have also tested some of the tips posted on this site but with no results =(.

Patch failed on alot of people's computers. I don't know what everybody else did, but this is what worked for me.

There appears to be two different patch files. The one I downloaded from EA worked for me after a few tries. The one I downloaded from 3dgamers.com did not work. Although this was like two months ago.

I had completely uninstalled my copy of BF2 and deleted the bf2 folder. Then re-installed BF2, logged in made sure it was ok. then used the patch from EA's server.

Haven't had a problem since. Hope that helps.

Prob not an issue with your system per se but it helps to know what hardware/driver versions we are working with. In my experience I have had to tweak my memory timings, uninstall/reinstall vid drivers, etc...

A common fix to this issue is uninstall BF2, uninstall/reinstall vid drivers, reinstall BF2 w/ v. 1.12 patch (redownload the patch).

It is also possible the file became corrupt when downloading, what is the size of the downloaded patch file?

Do you have 3GB of free space available?
