I've had the craziest... but seemingly viable idea come to me when I was in the shower... of all places.
I had an idea for SpecOps units (or maybe any other units who wish to) - where they are able to disable and not carry GPS and radio - and REALLY become SpecOps- where, because they no longer have GPS and radio; they won't pop up on enemy radar and minimap, but they will also not have the ability to see anything else other than just their own map and their own squad on the map.
That way, if an enemy spots them, they're dead meat - so they really have to remain hidden and kill discretely and quickly and operate the way a special operations should.
They will only show up on enemy radar- for a shorter time when spotted, and will only be spotted on enemy satellite scan if they are moving.
Those Spec Ops will not have radio contact so they cannot call for help. And since their GPS is disabled- they really must focus on objectives and work as a squad to accomplish those objectives- like destroying commander assets, vehicles, and perhaps even take out key targets like snipers and the commander...
Perhaps when the squad leader of the silent SpecOps squad is at their base scan-radar facility (the radar array that spins around), might be able to use the satellite scan to seek out those key targets, or even use the commander map to have a look around the enemy base to do that.
Not only will Spec Ops will have a more vital role in BF2 other than just a foot-soldier with plastic explosives, it will make the game much much more interesting and also can balance out issues such as spawn-camping and such (perhaps SpecOps can also carry weapon of choice, that is balanced out by different equipment/weapon values- so if they want to carry Anti-tank missile- they must forego their C4 and frag grenades, or even their primary gun, and etc for other kit items).
Okay... now that I've given some food for thought... what does everyone viewing this thread think? Give me your input/opinions/criticizms/ and ideas... don't be annoying and post something like "You're Stupid" with nothing else to offer.
Even if it may be a long-shot in terms of feasibility- we can all have a dream, can't we? And perhaps with enough persuasion- DICE and EA can help make such come true
