Very few ideas on these boards have merit, but this one is awesome! Good call there Harmor.

I think a blend of Battlefront II and an idea posted here would be awesome. In battlefront 2 you can bring up the spawn screen at any friendly flag to change kits. But if you change kits, you keep the same ammo level, by ratio. This would work so that if you have 2/5 clips and no grenades then switch to support, you'd still have 2/5 clips and no grenades. Then to prevent abuse, use the idea of having the ammo/health/sprint all be set to 0 and have to recharge.

well it wouldnt be realistic cuz each kit is like a speciality and a skill and i doubt that a regualr combat medic can repair a tank or a blown up artilllery piece

                    Exactly. Fun vs Realism

                    Great idea.

I'd rather have a fun arcade style game than 100% realistic one.

It would increase fun by being able to switch from engineer for CQB when you find yourself in a sniping battle.

If multiple kit changes were allowed, and you were pretty quick about it, bet you could ring that pig with Claymores, Mines and C-4 charges. Of course you would need to leave a narrow path for your team mates.

I think that's way too much power for the crates. I picture myself guarding the rooftop by the Hotel on Karkand, crate nestled on the roof, with the ability to throw ammo packs and health at my feet but still use the firepower from another kit.

Oh, and then I could go Engineer and repair the crate, and then go back to Assault.

The whole point of a "well-rounded squad" or "well-rounded team" is that the participants put effort into making sure that they have everything covered. Allowing crates to do this completely downplays the benefits of being in a squad with other people.

I on the other hand think that its a brilliant idea. If there is an APC or Tank baseraping your team then you can change into the appropriate class to kill it. Problem is that you can see everyone else trying to do it at the same time so, there should be a set time where you can't move whilst changing into the gear.

That should stop people pwning with tanks and apcs, on the other hand, having at the back of an apc is overkill and the artillery can normally blow these vehicles to bits, or an I wrong?

No offense, but I'm not hot for your idea. In fact, I think it's generally a bad idea. I can imagine a person sniping off half a squad before the squad finally reaches the sniper's position, ready to waste him, and then the sniper changes kits and wastes them all with a M203. Hell, imagine a whole squad of snipers that could instantly switch over to the assault/medic class.

Similar scenario. Tank approaches hostile flag. Defending infantry have a supply box? 6 SRAWs are instantly fired at the tank.

Changing class at a supply crate would essentially make it possible for a guy to play whatever class he needs to be. He would have no weaknesses since he can switch kits to cover up the flaws of each kit. Doesn't seem fair, right, or natural.

That's basically how I feel about it.

Yea, Ive been saying this for a bit now. It would definantly add an interesting new dynamic to the game. Youd probably make it a point to actually destroy a crate just before your flag gets captured so you wouldnt give the opposite team any undue advantage (more than it already does that is).
