    More 6600 GT Problems

I am at my wits end with this one. I replaced a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 with an EVGA 6600 GT, both AGP. I figured I could get at least a couple more months out of my current rig with this new card.
Anyways, I uninstalled the drivers for the ATI card and then replaced the card, installed the new drivers and I thought that would be that. Unfortunately, when I started BF2 I felt like I was in a PowerPoint presentation. Everything was JACKED UP!
I tried using various drivers to remedy the situation, but nothing seems to have made a difference. It's basically the same with any driver, some are a bit better than others.
Everything is rock solid except for some black textures I was getting a couple weeks ago, that is the reason for the new videocard. DVDs play fine, mpeg, avi, etc. is perfect.
I know I have enough power and I know that it is not a heating issue the case takes care of that. Any ideas??? Drivers I should try?

    Here are the specs:

    AMD 64 3400+ @ 2.2Ghz
    ASUS K8N-E Deluxe
    2 x 80G Samsung spinpoint SATA in Raid 0
    2 x 512mb OCZ PC3200 400Mhz (dual channel kit)
    Antec TruPower 430W PSU
    Thermaltake Tsunami Case

    BF2 Settings:
    Medium - Across the board
    AA-off
    Resolution 1024x768 @ 75 Hertz

I have the same 6600gt as yours, and Im using v81.95 from XTreme-G. Theres no issues with my setting. If you have some artifacts its either your card is faulty or you overclocked it too much. From what I heard, BF2 is quite sensitive in terms of overclocking. So keep that in mind when you overclock. And are you REALLY sure your PSU is enough for what it takes??? Cuz antec true power psu arent the most reliable psu out there...

I don't know, it stutters like crazy all over thre place. I even tried to switch ram to a single stick (1GB) of the same ram and it made no difference. I combined 1-512 stick with the 1gb stick to see if more ram would take care of it, and nothing as far as improvements happened.
When I dropped a full 2 GB of ram in it, the choppiness was even worse. I ran memtest on each stick for 45 minutes and I had no problems at all, no errors with anything.
The PSU is fine, it help up fine under a higher load with a better gpu and cpu for a few weeks.
As for the overclocking, I dont overclock with this board, it actually sucks. Like I said, I uninstalled the ATI and dropped this one in and boom, I got the crappiest gameplay ever. It made no difference if I had 1gb, 1.5gb, or 2gb or ram either. I dunno what else to do at this point, I think I will be forced to RMA the card and wait for the eventual upgrade to 939 socket and PCIe. Any other suggestions?
This was one of the reasons that I got rid of my GeForce 3 Ti over 4 years ago, back when it was the shizzle.

It was $130 for $150 I could not get anything close that I could find (newegg, etc.) Besides if I cant get the 6600 to run, I doubt a higher end card would do any better.

                Re: More 6600 GT Problems

I have a 6600 video card. I am haveing similar problems. My frame rate is 15 and doesnt budge from there. Also my CPU Runs (peaks) at 80% mostly runs around 40%. I am running everything at the default settings. My problem started about a mounth ago, I started loosing a frame here a frame there, especially during heavy battle with arty. Then it went to almost any time a chopper was around, then almost any time any vehicle was around. I used to be able to run at all high settings except AA 2x (after 1.03) been working on this every day, yes, every day. I just reinstalled driver 77.77 (was running 80 something) and am reinstalling BF2 with the new patch (only). I have a decent computer, specs follow:

                Asus P5DG2 Premium Mo Bo
XFX 6600 256 meg PCIE video
480 watt power supply (installed today didnt help)
                3 gig PC 4200 DDR2 ram
                P4 3.2 HT with 2 meg L2
On board sound (Sound Blaster audigy 2 ZS should be here later today)

I am just about out of Ideas any help would be appreciated! . . .Red

                      Re: More 6600 GT Problems

the patch caused a bunch of probs, it seemed to run much better for me on 1.03.

also, the 6600GT is WAY better than a normal 6600, despite having half the memory. it probly has more probs.

my one is a BFG 6600 GT OC card and ive never had problems, except when running BF2 on newer drivers than 78.01, which seems to work perfectly with it.

Instead of going into a ranked server and getting owned and teleporting all over the place...
Has anyone tried to play single player with the 1.12 patch?
Then maybe try to play with the previous patch? This would determine if it was the pach or not. Let me knwo.
