    Re: Engineer repair points

I got veteran repair on a match in Kubra where I was in a tank and kept driving up to my teammates' damaged vehicles and fixing them, as well as constantly patrolling the intake waypoint (32 player, I was MEC) to fix our stuff when it got destroyed. Even then, and the round lasted quite a time, it took nearly the whole round of vigilant repairing to amass the 10 points necessary. 25 is impossible short of some cheap stat-padding trick like boat flipping or sitting in the back of a Vodnik in water. If it took less effort to get a repair point, I wouldn't complain, but I just think the expert badge itself is a bit too stringent on the requirements. If they either lower the point requirement for the badge or increase the rate at which engies get points it would solve that.

So yeah, I guess I'm in favour, but at the same time I don't want it to be too easy to get the points, either. Double at the most, but certainly not triple. Maybe more like a 50% increase.

This brings up an important point:

Thank your engineers, people. Seriously. When you start seeing your bar going up, and hear that friendly "ratchety-ratchet" sound. It takes less than half a second to hit the "Thank you!" command.

        Re: Engineer repair points

having played nearly 250 hours, I am only NOW reaching the 1000 repair point total.

That is bullcrap. for every HOUR played engy, I have earned 4 repair points. thats an average of 2 points per round played!

its a thankless job for sure. I get punished for many teamkills by friendlies driving over my mines when there is CLEARLY ENOUGH ROOM TO DRIVE AROUND.
this reason alone is why most dont use the engineer kit.

          Aye.
I'm not sure why people mentioned the veteran badges here, it was said they're hard to get, not that they are impossible to get - just to note, i got my medic veteran healing badge on my first try, and i wasn't even trying. (and supply players tell me the ammo veteran badge was even easier for them)

            Re: Engineer repair points

I do my fare share of repairing every round. Currently at 370 repair points. So it's obvious what i voted. Bring on the points.

Well, what I honestly cannot understand is why the Support guy gets instant points as soon as someone picks up his ammo pack, even if the guy is only one grenade short of full ammo - while on the other hand Medics, and especially Engineers, have to fumble around enormously to get their points.

Probably because he doesn't have that many toys, they didn't make the light machine gun able to be mounted (setup the bipods), and they had to nerf it because of it (so people won't instaprone and use it as an assault weapon).
So you got a guy with a nerfed gun that can also throw ammo, i guess if they took the great points he gets with that, instead of 1 guy using supply on a 32 player team you would see 0.

yeah repair points are hell hard to gain, i was lucky enough to have 2 spec ops that were quite persistent, even after i killed them everytime i saw them, they kept goin there to blow stuff up, thats how i got my vet badge :P , of course the expert one..... that one i think i wont have it in the next 500 years :P

at least the expert engineer combat is easy if u are on strike at karkand with the pump action shotgun :)

                    Re: Engineer repair points

getting the veteran repair badge is not impossible. I have it myself, and I didn't cheat, hack, stat pad, or anything to get it. Operation clean sweep, enemies kept coming to blow up our artillery, I kept killing them and repairing, then when we got on land, repaired the apc's that were holding the one point (we were getting our butts kicked). I just kept repairing because I was tired of dying in combat so I was just being a team player that round, and what do you know, all of a sudden the drums roll and I got the badge. i made about 12 or 13 repair points that level. getting 25 points for the expert badge though is laughable since it took the entire game for me to just get the points I had.

As for increasing the points, I am all for it, repair points are some of the hardest and riskiest points to get...seeing how easy of a target you are while cranking away with that wrench

                      Re: Engineer repair points

Got mine on SF - Warlord. Similar story, persistent SpecOps presence of course. But, the big difference was the many incidental repair points I got while riding around on an ATV. It not only takes time to repair, it takes time to get from one repairable asset/vehicle to the next. Zip around on one of those and you can maintain most of the vehicles on the map, your assets and not catch an F2000GL to the face that easily either.

BTW - Its been my experience that most pubbies do thank their engineers for the help... especially if you keep returning back to check on them.

Don't medics get points when someone picks up a med pack even if it only heals one bar? I though it was exactly the same for ammo and med.

No mate, they get a point every 100% health healing, this is why you sometimes don't get points for tossing packs

Engineer is the best class in BF2. Im still working on 100 hours with it and i have really just begun to understand the value of the class and also amount of destruction you can deal the enemy with this class. It is now my favorate class.

AT mines... hehe obvious anything with an engine, that moves you can kill

Nades .... pesky infantry that wont get with in range of the ol' HammerJake ... got frag?

Pistol .... good accuracy to finish what the nades didnt take care of

Jackhammer ... Im 100% Bias about this wepon > the Dao. i do the double tap and it slays all in close. I never use full auto unless its me vs a squad in hallway. I have taken down 5 men with this in one load. (not one shot but cylinder of ammo)

Knife ... best for carving notches in my jackhammer stock of all armor exterminated, and shaving

WRENCH ... Repair points ARE hard to get, but they are do-able. Many ingenious ways to work the reapairs, just think "outside the garage". This is the most damaging wepon of any other listed... Why? Because you can sit in a jeep/apc with other APC's and Tank's and give the armor divisions the repairs needed to lay waste to all who they encounter.

Thank all the men you see with grease under their figernails

ithe most irratating thing is that it takes so damn long to repair anything by the time youve fixed the scanner the commander has supply dropped his other assets removing any chance of the 10th hallowed reapir point :/
