Refresh Lines.

Here's the deal, I just recently bought a new monitor (Viewsonic 19' Vx924 LCD to be exact) and I can't figure out why I am getting insane refresh lines in BF2 and some other games. It's like most of the screen is chopped up into long rectangles and they only appear when I move the mouse left or right, sometimes when I'm looking up and down too.

I have the latest drivers for the monitor, it is set at 1280x1024 (recommended for and by the monitr) @ 60 Hz, and setting it to 75 Hz doesn't help at all, as BF2 overrides it. I have tried editing the files to make it 75, but the game doesnt start up right...

Latest drivers for everything else, and my computer specs are in my signature, check them out and let me know what the problem might be.

V-Sync isn't on by the way.

I always use the same refresh rate and res in game and on desktop, always, but does this matter?

Any help appreciated.

Lower resolutions don't help either.

First off, unlock the refresh rate in BF2 by going to:

C:/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2/settings/

Open the file "VideoDefault.con" in Notepad. The last line reads "AllowAllRefreshRates 0". Delete the zero and put a one there so it read "allowallrefreshrates 1" instead. This will allow a 75hz refresh in-game.

Next, goto My Documents > Battlefield 2 > mods > bf2 > cache (note: if you don't have the xpack, the cahce may be in the root Battlefield 2 folder).

Clear this out. when you launch the game it will reoptimize using the new hardware.

Well, I already have the allowallrefreshrates 1 set, deleted 30 mb of cache from that folder, that's about it.

Still doesn't work.

The game crashes as soon as I type my password in and start connecting, as soon as I connect, bam! Desktop baby!

Have you tried cleaning your graphics drivers and installing the newest ones?

turn vsync on, and I garentee it will solve your problem. If you want MORE fps with no refresh lines, turn up your refresh rate.
