Gray color on the menu screen problem!

I installed battlefield 2 today and it worked all the way to the ea logo, but then the screen became solid gray at the menu with a moveable mouse icon.

my system specs are:
asus K8U-X mobo uli 1689 754 pin
sempron 64 2800+
geforce 6600 gt 128mb
corsair pc3200 1 gb ram
seagate 160 hdd

note: the mobo bios is up to date, and i also installed a driver from uli's site.

Uninstall that ULI driver.

It did this to me when I installed a motherboard driver once. All grey screen. All of the textures in the DXDiag texts using DX9 were also messed up.

I uninstalled my VIA chipset drivers and rebooted and the problem was gone.
