Theres some tools you can download to play them.

Join this website (Which you have). Bf2s forums not bad.

The Bf2 movies are in a bik format so you can't just double click them and play.

They are safe. Another website is Planet Battlefield. It's not bad, but this site is very similar and much better.

This is the official EA UK forums and unofficial EA BF2 just because they don't actually have a real one. It's useful to join as it's where DiCE get their player feedback from regarding the game and it's patches.

Planet Battlefield, as already mentioned, is another fan site (run by Gamespy) but has a habit of attracting a younger crowd than here and a lot of threads which start out as good topics can end up as just a flamewar. Though is has been better since it got hacke recently IMHO.

No, you have to sign up to file planet, then it's free. Don't worry about the costs.
