When should I load up BF2 Special Forces?

I picked up both BF2 and the add-on BF2 SF at the same time. So far I have only loaded up BF2 and updated it to the latest patch. As I am pretty new with BF2 and still trying to find my arse with both my hands, I have held off on loading up the SF add on.

Am I correct in my line of thinking that I should get somewhat proficient with BF2 before loading SF or am I passing something by? Opinions?

Hmmm, good question !

I don't think you should hold off. There aren't IMHO any real skills that you *need* to have by playing BF2 that make SF unplayable if you don't have them.

Some would say that SF is only a bunch of extra maps with a few new weapons, so in that light, go ahead and try them both.

IMO it's pretty much same-same. It won't hurt you to do both. One isn't any harder than the other. You will have to repatch your program again after installing SF though.
