Online Loading Trouble
Hello all, I have had this problem for a bit and havn't been able to figure it out.. so I was wondering if any of you guys had some ideas. I got BF2 in November and it worked just fine, both sp and online. I got the SF expansion pack for Christmas and after I loaded that is when things got weird. Whenever I play the regular BF2 online and try to play on the Wake Island map i keep getting a message that I have to revert to an unmodded version of BF2 in order to play. All the other maps work just fine. On the other hand whenever I try to play any of the SF maps online I get the exact same message. Was just wondering if anyone else had the same kind of problems or had any ideas. I am running the current version 1.12 and dont have any "mods" loaded. Thanks.

Reading your post and one quick thing came to mind.. When was the last time you updated your punkbuster? They release a new version not long ago.

ok, I just updated the Punkbuster but it's still not working. I also submitted the question to EA as well.

Sry we were not able to assit you..
EA is going to tell you to unistall the whole thing..... game, patch add on and re-install the whole freaking thing.. Which is a pain but may resolve your issue. Its possible that while patching to 1.2 it failed or a file is corrupted.
If you chose to do this on your own don't forget to update punkbuster when your done.
One last tip for you.. I personaly hate remaping my keys all over again during a BF2 re-install.
If you look under my documents then BattleField 2 then profiles and copy the 0001 directory. It saves all your controls and setings. Simply re-install and copy the directory back over the generic it installs.

It just means that the 1.12 patch didn't install properly even if it didn't give you any error messages.
if you check the folder dates of the map files, you'll probably find that most date from when you installed SF and the 1.12 patch. The ones that don't work were the ones that weren't patched and have older dates.
I *think* there there is a patchlog file created in /my docs/BF2/ somwhere which may tell you what went wrong with the install.Comment

Generally it's a small problem with your RAM and/or hard drive. Some have tested and changed their ram in order to fix it. Others have just ran the patch up to 10 times, each time hoping that it'd be the last time.
So yes, trying the patch again won't hurt you.Comment

I certainly recommend people do a complete UNinstall and REinstall with problems like this.
Uninstall BF2 and SF.
Install BF2
Install SF

Just to put closure to this topic I followed Talus's advice.. uninstalled everything, then put it back on and then put the patch out and everything works great. Thanks for all of your help guys ; )Comment
