Green Terrain, Checkboard oddness, and green distance

    okay.. i have a problem.
I tried to map. It all worked perfectly in the editor and i was quite pleased with the result.. untill all hell broke lose. Well, what actually happend is that someone on Xfire messaged me about Half-way trough the loading. Resulting in the following:

    Checkboard oddness

    Green distance...

    Inside the green distance

And last but not least.. it loads in a Local Server,
But as soon as u load the map when joining an internet server it crashes..

I dont know if anyone else had this problem, and if someone knows a way to fix this...
(i dont feel like painting 1024x1024 again)

the green textures can be removed, to do this go into terrain editor and on the right hand side scroll down to u see surrounding terrain, click on this, u will see a smalll grid,ok click on all the outer boxes and remove the patch, pls note DO NOT remove the centre patch as this ur map, the only down side to removing the patches on the sides is that ur left with water all the way round the map, so if you need texture colurs on the surrounding terrain, dont do the above.i find doing the above cuts down on terrain bleeding when ur high up in the air,

Did you go to your grass layer (Terrain Editor -> Paint Tool) and click the "Set Low Detail Texture" button on the right menu? I think if you generate a Low Detail map there it will solve the checkerboard problem.

When you activate the heightmaps in the surrounding terrain, they are green like that by default. You have to paint them just like you painted the main playing area/map. I'm guessing if you've misplaced your dds files for those areas, they'll go back to being green in case you painted them before.

When you package your map, there are a couple files you have to manually place in your Server.zip to play them on an internet server. AmbientObjects.con is one of them - I'm trying to think of the other one .... drawing a blank. Anyways, the gotfrag forums have some secrets like that hiding all over. Hopefully you've been keeping backup copies of your level throughout your development process. That way you can package several versions and see about when you started getting crashes to point you in the right direction.
