Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
OK, well, here are my specs, and please sir, tell me what I am doing wrong with SF and not in BF2 Original:Originally posted by ledbythereaperUPGRADE YOUR DAMN PC, THERES A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT BOX FOR A REASON. 3500+
2gb dual-channel DDR400
7800GT
All drivers updated. Systems runs BF2 original without problems, except for the odd server lag hiccup, which can't seem to be avoided with any online experience, but in SF, there is lag, almost impossible to fly.
It wouldn't be an issue if I could simply change the settings for SF but keep the high settings for BF2 original, under the same account. I'm not ready to create another account only for SF, as I enjoy my unlocked f2000, mp7 and SCAR in BF2 Original.
I would love to play SF again, but it's too laggy at the start, and flying just sucks.
Offer something more, I don't know, intelligent.
PEACE

Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
Hmm, I've got a Athlon 3000+/1gb(now 2gb)/9700 and I noticed no difference when I play SF and vanilla. Maybe it's because I run textures, effects, and dynamic light at medium with everything else on high?

Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
Yeah, it would. I ran everything in both on medium/high mix with my x800 XL, but can run everything high now with the 7800GT...the only issue happens in the helicopters, which are unbearable to fly, and I get lag for the first couple minutes in any server, any amount of people.Originally posted by BurnTheWeedHmm, I've got a Athlon 3000+/1gb(now 2gb)/9700 and I noticed no difference when I play SF and vanilla. Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
It's not an easy question to answer, but I'm still convinced that 98% of the problems folks are having are computer related. I have nowhere near the system a lot of you guys have and have been able to run BF2 and SF perfectly on high settings since day one.
It's no different than Word or Outlook working great on one machine and totally screwing up on an identical machine. That's just the nature of computers.

people saying it's just the pc it's problem, and you need to upgrade and so on, are just morons. they look at this in such a simple way, even a donkey would have come up with something better

I think tha thee are certain aspects of the game that are not PC friendly, period. Maybe some of the meshes/geometries/collision points are hard coded incorrectly? It's really difficult to say exactly what happens, the end result is lag and the occassional crappy expereince. To some extent, hardware specs does have something to do with it. I would recommend to anyone experiencing problems, make some adjustments to your game settings, little by little. Don't crank everything up to high with a Radeon 9500 or anything, but increase one option at a time. Play a map or 2 and see the results you get.

I have a decent rig.. but I see people complaining about problems with rigs better than mine.. so.. that leads me to believe the problem lies somewhere between their keyboard and their chair.

Most reviews confirm (without debate) that SF is a system hog, with serious problems. Thats why the add-on got poor scores.Originally posted by ledbythereaperUPGRADE YOUR DAMN PC, THERES A MINIMUM REQUIREMENT BOX FOR A REASON. Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
So you must have been sitting at their PC recently. Stop being stupid, the number of people that can run vanilla BF2 just fine but have problems with SF should tell you something. THE PC ISN'T THE PROBLEM. Sure some of the complaints come from people who can't bear to turn down the settings but most people aren't that stupid/stubborn and still have problems.Originally posted by wattsfox43I have a decent rig.. but I see people complaining about problems with rigs better than mine.. so.. that leads me to believe the problem lies somewhere between their keyboard and their chair.

Are you stupid or something. Many people with computers that run everything else without a problem are having problems running SF properly. That mean SF IS THE PROBLEM.Originally posted by RaftermanAnd the number of people that can run BF2 and SF without any problems should tell you something. THE PC IS THE PROBLEM.
Just because something is working for you don't assume that there aren't any problems with it.

Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
OK I was of the same opinion as the poster until tonight. I have very similar specs. AMD 2700+ @ 2.3 Ghz, 1.5gig RAM, FX5900 soft modded to FX5950 ultra and oc'ed to 500/1000
At the start I had the dreaded pilot seat stuttering. So I lowered my detail to 800x600 all low except for textures, dynamic lighting and shadows off. I also adjusted the PCI latency to 64.
The heli stuttering went away and I was laughing until tonight, when all of a sudden it returned again on Surge. It was totally unplayable to fly the heli again. I was so disappointed if not shocked that I was back to square 1.
For me I get no stuttering in warlord inside buildings. I get none in Iron Gator, I thought I had tamed the SF lag beast but when it re-appeared whilst in the heli on Surge I was shattered.
I don't know what causes it other than **** poor programming! If this is not fixed in a new patch SF will remain a dud!

Re: Solution to Special Forces problems.
Excellent a convert to our cause. Our cause being SF runs like a dog (or not at all) and EA/DICE had bloody well better do something about it.
