Operation Flashpoint 2

Does anyone know whats happening with this one?

Now if you go to the site http://www.operationflashpoint2.com/ it shows a wierd TV thing in flash saying 'out of service'.

I looked in to it a bit and on some sits they say that the creators of Operation Flashpoint 2 Bohemia Interactive are no longer published by Codemasters but are working on the next version but as codemasters own the rights to the name operation flashpoint 2 they have to call it somthing else. Allegedly its currently simply called 'game 2'.

But codemasters seem to be hoping to cash in on the name and so are developing there own version to be called operation flashpoint 2 with the idea of fooling people in to thinking thats the new game when in truth its not really operation flashpoint at all because its not made by bohemia.

Thoughts?

well so far its just rumours i was just wondering if anyone here knows any more concrete facts about the issue as codemasters certainly seem to be keeping their cards very close to there chest with good reason if this is true and it would certainly explain the lack of information.

Its annoying really because in principle operation flashpoint 2 should blow bf2 out of the water as it should be basically just like bf2 with the accuracy and realism of Americas Army.

No Armed Assault is simply a redo of OFP with redone graphics, Flashpoint 2 is still in development.

I have watched trailer of Armed Assault - nothing spectacular but still will be interesting to see final product.Let's hope new games will be released with good maps and missions editors - like orginal OFP

Yeah the community for OFP is great they have made excellent use of the ofp engine, and there is still a strong community still going today, just shows the quality of the game.
Lets just hope BIS continue the trend with Armed Assault, I'm sure they will.

Sorry OFP editor was just for missions not for maps.

OFP community has really produce some outstanding stuff like the whole WWII add-ons.I was kind of hoping BIS would pick that up and comes up with properly developed,open source WWII game but nevertheless looking forward to play AA

the first game is still today one of the best first person shooters in the world with one of the most active communities of any game
Armed Assault can only add and improve on the genius that was Operation Flashpoint

Yeah OFP was a classic, anyone who says other wise does not know their gaming well.

Armed Assault is going to lay the law down.
