A blow torch sounds lame. What are you going to do, weld a tank to death? A flamethrower would be cool though. Imagine spraying spawn points with waves of fire before your squad attacks.

I think a blow torch would be neat if it were implemented in another way. Making a vehicle blow up by pulling it out and sizzling the side of it to make it blow is kind of lame.

-Maybe if you could permanently destroy commander assets by torching them (for a long time of course) while your teammates cover you.

-If there were doors that could be opened (and more working elevator switches, etc) it would be nice to disable/enable them with the blow torch.

-Maybe disable C4?

-Anyone ever play 'Natural Selection' mod for HL? The commander system was somewhat similar and involved waypoints, and the commander could assign things to be built. As a soldier yyou'd have to go out and build whatever the comm wanted by whipping out your torch and hopefully being covered by a teammate. ..I didn't like how the unbuilt structures just magically appeared out of nowhere, however..

That's about all that comes to mind for now. Opinions? Extra suggestions?

Great idea doing that, about the assets thing, it should only be doable when the asset is down, and it will just jam the repairation lower so it takes longer to repair.

I love the idea with doors and elevators though, image the devils perch gate being torched, so the only way for the seals to get up is to use hooks, where MEC's have lots of PKM'ers ready to blow them to bits.

My mate has battlefield modern combat on the Xbox, he says the engineer has a blow torch so maybe its a screen shot from that?

Umm yeah, I'd have to say I'd be dissapointed if that was the new unlock. It is nice, but pretty useless in combat, against armour and soldiers. Actually I can't remember, did it even kill other players? So you got a "Apostle[Blowtorch]BurnTheWeed"? Would be pretty nice humiliation kill, like the shocks.

The new unlocks are for AT and sniper, so I would have to say that the blowtorch is NOT coming back. Plus, there are no more slots for another engineer weapon.

Well dice did say that they are working on making the engineer class worth playing again in the next patch.

Creating obstacles and altering the terrain would be a cool. Melting ziplines and grappling hooks. I guess it could be cool for the blow torch to disable vehicles or reduce their health.
