    Shadows with ATI

There seems to be a shadow problem with ATI cards where they are super boxy and look like the technology of 8 years ago....since I have changed whole systems since I started BF2 and had this problem on both one having the radeon 9800XT and now the X850pro pci-e I came to just see them as that's what they are supposed to be just crappy :p

Anyway since others tell me this isn't the case then what is the solution?..and yes all drivers are up to date!

I run the game with everything on the highest settings including audio at 1280X1024 resolution with 2x antialiasing on.

    guess posting stats could help:

    asus P5WD2 premium MB
    P4 3.4ghz 800fsb ht 64bit
    2 gig PC6400 memory
    Asus radeon X850pro PCI-E
    creative X-fi fatal1ty

    Re: Shadows with ATI

I just ran some testing trying medium and low settings and the shadows looked the same for all of them..also tried it with antialiasing off and no change.

Maybe I am right and the shadows just suck ass in this game! :p

try different drivers? thats what helped me with my old ATI, and many others. roll back or something try that, because I heard the newest drivers arent so good with the game.

That's not it because it has always been like this for me so has to be at least 4 drivers I have ran with it.

You need to update/clean your drivers. I have the 5.11 drivers installed and the only shadows I have problems with occassionally are the dynamic ones. Everyone seems to have these issues, I have spoke with people who have Nvidia cards with the same problem as well.

Well the shadows I am talking about are the ones generated in real time like from choppers...but I know that wont help because as I said I had this problem with 2 different cards and many different drivers.
