In the game files there are ranks that go all the way up to General of the Army. Silly because this is the USMC, PLA,and MEC. And there's only been one person to get the rank of General of the Army.

However yeah there are ranks that go all the way up to that, for a total of about 19. There are also two special ranks: EA and DICE oO

They should add up to the Colonel for reg players, and switch out the officer ranks and replace them with general ranks for hardcore commander players. In other owrds, give regular infantary guys 1st lieutenant, captain, major, lt. Colonel, and Colonel, and give the commander guys Brigadier Gen. (1-star gen), Major Gen., Lieutenant Gen., 4-star gen (i forgot the name), and general of the marine corps (5-star gen).

no way with the commander stuff i think you should be able to CHOOSE which rank you want for exaplme

lets SAY
you got 50000
there are new ranks
you have 25000 combat
10000 team
and 15000 comander i think you should be able to CHOOSE if you want the brigadier genral stuff of the colonel and all that other stuff

i do not agree at all considering the general and a couple ranks below him do not fight in any war. it would not make sense to have those ranks so work ur @$$ off and get those points

I've got to say that I disagree with adding more ranks to the game. It's a fact that the bulk of any combat unit engaged in action is made up of enlisted ranks, not officers. If BF2 allowed 2nd Lt and higher, you'd soon enough have nothing but officers running around and battling it out; totally unrealistic and stupid (not that BF2 is realistic to begin with, but we can try).

I think EA actually hit the nail right on the head with their ranking and points structure. It makes gaining officer rank something to work hard for, as it should be.

"rankname2" is a left over from Sgt major of the corps. SGTMOTC required 250,000 points, and if you look in BFHQ once you hit 200,000, you will have 4/5 of the bar full.

ok then..dumb question....call me a noob...whatever but i honestly dont know....if 2ndLt requires 200,000 points and SGMOTC requires 250,000, does that mean you have to be a 2ndLt to by the SGMOTC, I thought 2ndLt was the absolute highest you got. Why would you have to get more points to go back down to an enlisted rank. Sorry for the dumb question, no one ever explained to me

i agree there should be more ranks added and the 200,000 for 2nd lt changed to somthing like 80,000 or 90,000 and then so on

Don't make the points too easy, then everbody will be a major or colonel. I like it the way ti is now, you need so many points so you can see who is top who isn't. If they say 2nd Lt. is 50000 points then how do you know who is the best?

No no it should not be easy, and you will not stop at 2nd Lt. we just say that there should be more ranks between Sg. major and 2nd Lt. or 2nd L.t it moved closer to Sg. major and then put som new ranks in front of 2nd Lt. so you not loseing the joy of playing BF2. You will still be able to see who is the best.

1st LT = 200,000
CPT = 250,000
Maj = 300,000
Colonel 400,000
General 500,000

This would seem ok, even for the big score guys, and they wouldn't lose any ranks, and if so it would only be one and that's 1st LT, but still not as bad as people jumping from PFC to Staff Sergent..

CPT is about three years, but to Major another two and up from there can take take entire careers. Also I think that like in RL you're promotions to higher officer ranks should be based on accomplishments instead of raw score, so no more whoring one class and having massive team points, so now your a higher rank, but instead an overall system that takes into account win/lose, combat/team score, honors earned etc...
