  • EAX and Sound quality

    i have on-board Realtek AC97 audio and i wanted to know what sound quality i should put it at and should i put EAX on?

    meh that card is on my board too, disabled of course, I have an Audigy 4, there is a night and day difference, its a must to get and not only for games.

      Yes, turn EAX on.

      I am assuming you have an nForce4 mobo? I run my sound at:

      Software
      High
      EAX on

      If you use the Hardware setting, you will most likely find every sound on the battlefield all coming from directly in front of you.

      Hardware setting is for add-on sound cards like the guy above.

          For gaming, you really should have a dedicated sound card. I'm surprised you can actually run the game with that graphics card too.

          Have you actually tried using the EAX option? Your motherboard's manual should stipulate whether your on-board sound supports EAX.

            i checked in my mobo's manual and it doesnt say if it supports EAX

              Of course not...says right there in your sig that you have a Radeon Xpress I missed that part...

              I think you have a Realtek ALC880 chip on that mobo. EAX is supported.
