Should I update my video card drivers??

When I play bf sf, as I move around sometimes the graphics are great but as I turn to an angle sides of the terrain turn black, in the shapes of squares, triangles, and so on, but if I look at that exact spot and turn to a new angle it goes back to normal. What causes this? I was thinking to get some new drivers, but I'm not sure. Otherwise, the game runs super smooth, on the right server of course.

I have the same problem too... PLEASE REPLY ..but I did a few searches on this and I hear its overheating... if it is right please get us some links to helpful coolers :)

well, i never considered that, but im about to fire up the game in a few minutes, and if that is the problem, it should at least be good for a couple of minutes then.

I get this problem sometimes, too. I turn a corner, and all of the sudden, there is a karkand-colored right triangle shooting all the way to the horizon. It moves, but stays persistently until I quit the game and get back into it. I have not experienced this problem since I updated my drivers to catalyst 5.13

I don't *think* it's an overheating problem, at least in my case. My CPU temp will go up to 65 degrees under heavy load, and the mobo will go up to 58 degrees. I expect the graphics card to be running at a similar or slightly lower temp, but I haven't checked lately. In other words, my system always runs fairly hot, but the triangles have stopped since I updated the drivers.

Is your PSU up to the task of handling all your drives/cards?

For reference, I'm running a p4 3.0 prescott and x800xt AIW.

hi all, i have seen this b4 on a amd64 3000 with a nvida 6600
basacaly when new drivers were added it went but the latets 81.?? it came back i say try the drivers that came with bf2 becuase this resolved the problem for my m8...
it may not solve it for you but no harm in trying thow....

plz ive tried to help ppl with the psu thing and got so mucth agro for it,but i still swear it can help ppl on high end cards.

I have a similar video card, x850xt AGP. I use to get those type of problems where the textures would look real screwy and it would make it hard to aim at people in SF. This is what I did recently. Go back to BF core and change all of your video settings to low and no anti-aliasing. Play a few minutes to make sure everything looks ok. Then change your video settings to your preferred settings from BF2 core, not SF. Then play a couple of minutes to make sure its ok. Then go back to SF, and play a game and see if you still have problems with video textures. Don't change any video settings.

I'm currently running everything on high at 1280x1024, but textures and texture filtering is on medium, because I am only running 1GB of ram. Runs great at those settings.

A while back there was a problem with the shaders and SF, specifically on ATI cards. I guess the drivers could not handle the type of data the app was throwing at them. Try the latest drivers and play a couple rounds, if it works well keep them. Otherwise start the roll back process. Look for the previous versions.
With the heavy graphics load that this game produces on computer systems, I would recommend Nvidia cards. They do seem to work better for most people, even the older cards 6600/6800 AGP...

If youre having an overheating problem you might wanna try ATI Tray tools (http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/). It will allow you to manually set your fan speed to 100%.
