    Ye old Timye BF2 SF!!!

Hey guys, I was just kinda messin around and scrounged up this ye old silent philm in about 1 hour, the quilities crap cause all I have is Windows movie maker...... and I didn't feel like puting the video files on my external and puting them on my brotheres mac and doing it on iMovie so I did what I could with it, give me some feedback!

    http://files.filefront.com/Ye_old_ti.../fileinfo.html

P.S. filefront is kinda screwed up so if you want to download it, scroll to the very bottom of the page and that's where the stuff is, as opposed to being at the top of the page.:hmm:

oh yeah, is there any free movie making tools out there that's better then Movie maker???? And I don't want to pirate anything, so if there is, gimme a link :)

Re: Ye old Timye BF2 SF!!!

I'm always hesitant about providing comments / feedback / constructive criticism because a lot of people take it the wrong way ... However, because you're keen, Philius, and you don't seem like the type to be offended:

                          Things I liked:
                          - The idea was novel. I haven't seen it done before ...
                          - The old-timey caption cards were a nice touch.
                          - Your deaths at the start amused me ... perhaps because of the captions.

Things I didn't like quite so much:
                          - I'm not a big fan of first-person perspective action with the HUD on (except when playing the game). Some people don't seem to mind it -- some even prefer it -- but I much prefer the videos shot from an array of different angles. I'll concede that's a personal preference, though.
                          - The music ... The piano was really good but the electric guitar seemed out of place for the style of film. In a way, it detracted from the piano, which was a shame.

                          Constructive criticism:
                          - Favour the Sepia effect in Windows Movie Maker. As in, use it in conjunction with the Film Age effect. Unlike pure black and white, Sepia is more in keeping with the appearance of those old-time films.
                          - Maybe hold back from using so many exclamation marks for the captions. One should suffice. Two at the most.
                          - Definitely aim for more coherent action. The more random the clips, the harder it is to sustain the interest of your viewer.

I'd actually like to see you do another old-timey film but with a strong storyline. Have you seen "Three Amigos!"? The old-time film featured at the start of the movie is a great example and well-worth checking out if you've not seen it already.

                            .
Haha thanks for the feed back, as to what you said about filming in first person, yes, you are absolutely right, filming it in first person isn't near as cool as in a BF2 recorder movie, well you must understand that my computer is on crack, and the battle recorder wasn't working at all so I couldn't get a BF2 recorder film. (that's how I wanted it in the first place)

for the music, it was all I could get, it was the only thing I had on hand, there was some good music on this one webpage but you couldn't DL it,

as for the sepia tone, I totally forgot it was there, If I can get BF2 recorder workin I shall make another movie like this, oh yeah, and by the way, it was just a random bunch of clips I took and through together

So in the future I'll make a movie that I'll put alot of effort into!!!

Hmmm. well.. hmmm.. I didnt get the first part. where you kept dying. what was killing you. I have to say I like the movies that are less random and have more of a story to them. I thought that was more random. I liked the music and the cards thought. OK i guess.
