Sound card help

I recently bought, an Sound blaster live 24 bit card, it said on the box i can use eax enabled, and all that good stuff. Well when i put it on hardware, my voice overs are all choppy, and I cna't hear arty coming till the last minute, and my fps are getting killed.. any help or suggestions?'

It's not a great card, you need to switch to medium or low sound detail and software rendering.

If I were to buy an Audigy 2 from sound Blaster would that allow me to use the hardware?

Try looking in the readme.txt, notice what I highlighted with BOLD

So it isn't possible, or supposed to be a viable option for your sound card, so using Software option, like lil_jimmy_norton suggests, would be your only choice.

If you choose an Audigy, make sure it isn't one of the ones in BOLD above, if you wan't to use Hardware setting. Best would of course be to get X-fi series sound card.

The BF2 readme.txt is actually one of the better readmes in games IMO, compared to other games.

I updated the post above with the Audigy cards that don't work with Hardware setting. The other versions probably do.

Once again thanks a bunch, I found my readme file. I think i'll just go with an x-fi and save my self some hassle..lol..thanks again man.

Don't get the x0fi unless you have decent speakers and/or headphones, it's a waste with crappy speakers.
