FPS Issue

When I run battlefield 2 at 1024x768 and high/medium settings mine FPS stays around 10-20(fraps) and it shouldn't because mine PC specs are:

Pentium 4 3.0 ghz
1gb of RAM
Nvidia Geforce 6800ultra 256
Hd Maxtor 120 gb

I just get can get a FPS around 40 when I play with low settings and 800X600 resolution. I've already tried almost everything(disable background programs, desfragmentation, reinstall drivers, etc), but I can't solve this problem . Please help me, because I don't know what to do .

Have you installed chipset drivers for your motherboard? And if so have you installed the latest available, and not just the ones that comes with install CD??

Try posting your dxdiag, info as explained in the Support Forum Rules: READ FIRST! at the top of forum.

The Fraps you mention that is just for measuring FPS and not while recording, right?? Because that would explain low FPS, if it was while recording.

I updated my motherboard drivers, but I didn't work. It still the same .

Try posting your dxdiag, info as explained in the Support Forum Rules: READ FIRST! at the top of forum.

This makes it easier for ppl to help you as they have more info, rather than guessing or asking you for additional info.

ok, this will not solve your problem but it helps us know a little more. Post your DXDIAG, and also fraps (depending on your system etc.) slows your fps down considerably. instead, during bf2 hit "~" and type "renderer.drawfps 1"
in the corner of your screen two numbers will appear, separated by a "/". Play for a little bit and keep looking at the first number, tell us the lowest number you saw, the highest, and what your average was (use good judgement).

I remember that the lowest number was 15 and the highest was 30. My average was 45-50 and i will post the dxdiag as soon as i get home

If you can get into your bios, make sure your card slot is enabled for 256 instead of 128. 128 is the default.

I have no troubles getting way over 100 fps in alot of cases, standing next to a plane on Dalian I will get 95..

delete those new NVIDIA drivers they are junk for our systems,, download the NVIDIA 78.05 drivers and install them,,

then set like this

AA Application controlled
AF OFF
Quality settings
VSYNC OFF (if your not using LCD)

and watch your performance

let me know, this worked great on my system....

if I have a x800xl and it's a 256mb card...should I switch the agp aperature in my bios to 256 instead of 128? Would that help at all or make a difference in anything?

how can you highest fps be 30 and your lowest be 15, and your average 45-50? not mathmatically possible.

well he just adds up his highest and lowest which makes 45... and ... a forget it it's just weird :P

LOL, the average is the lowest plus the highest, divided by the amount of numbers. In this case, if the lowest was 15, and the highest was 30. it would be 15+30 divided by two. which is 22.5. Which is a bad average fps.
