Did DICE destroy the teamplay by implementing a ranking system?
In my opinion the ranking system is fun at the beginning, but when you gain some points and the next rank is tens of thousands away it's not so great anymore. It's there just to ruin the gameplay.
Everyone fights for theirselves, everyones main goal is to get a lot of points and don't care how the team does. If you we're in a position to choose: If I capped a flag and got 4 points and our team would win or I could spawnrape for a while and get 10 points... Hmm the points do the choosing for me.
I've played a lot BF1942 since it's release and there is no ranking system and it's good that way. You might just find a little bit of teamplay. Even I can die for my team cpl of times since I don't need to worry about my Kill/Death ratio all the time.
