R2 Clan Server : Help Please

Found teh R2 server for the first time last night, had an ok game. The problem is with the battlerecorder, I had some beautiful kills that I wanted to add to my video that I have planned, unfortunately I cannot d/load from the community, anyone else have problems here.

Only reason I am asking is because I know the server has been spoken about here in high regard...

Hmm... odd. I've been pulling 'em down no problem.

What exactly is your issue? Are they not showing up or are you getting an error when you attempt to DL the files?

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I didnt want to start another. Wargimp, I noticed that server runs SF maps. I don't own SF. do those maps come around often in the rotations, or just once in a while? What happens when the server loads a map I don't have? Thanks for your help.

Hmm..I can grab them no problems..what exactly is it telling you when you try to D/L them? If you can tell me this I may be able to sort you out. If not, If you can let me know when the games were, a date / approx time and maps I can probably hunt them down off the ftp for you if need be.

The server doesnt mix bf2 vanilla and sf maps so there will be no problem with maps. The server will either be set for BF2 vanilla or set for SF. We rotate the server around "usually" every other day, ie it will run vanilla for a day (maybe day and a half) then we will switch it to SF and repeat.

I haven't been able to grab any battle recorder files for several months. Probably should have posted about this in the support forum but while I'm here:

Everytime I try I get an "<Unable to find hostname error.>" Or something like that, regardless of whether it is SF or what server it is on.

I have the same problem as the last poster, bad hostname error, I don't know if you allow this but I also ftp'd straight into the server and there was nothing there. I also tried battle launcher and that didn't find anything as well.

I just checked the ftp and there are 100 files in there. I tested a download ingame with the bookmarks I had from last night and the day before and it worked no problems.I also checked to see if I could view them through BattleLauncher and they were all there.

Im not sure what you mean by ftp'ed straight into the server, the BR files are hosted on a seperate ftp to the server with a password ?? What exactly did you ftp into.

Like I said before if there is one you want tell me a date / approx time and map and I will hunt them down off the ftp for you. Remember though that the files will be replaced as they rotate so you need to download it before approx 3-4 days. Id suggest straight after your round but they do remain there a little longer.

AH HA!
I figured it out.
You can only DL .demo files that match the version currently being played on the server. Right now, it's playing SF maps. You can't DL non-SF maps. When it changes back over to regualr BF2, you should have no problems DLing those .demos.

You can actually download the .demo files from either version you just need to load the correct version. I tested it on Vanilla files whilst the server was running SF and it worked ok.
If you are using BattleLauncher though you may need to select to correct mod to be able to view and download them. Of course you wont be able to D/l them if they are too old Here's where to switch mods in BL if you dont know how.

It appears I'm slightly not right here.
(I'm never wrong, but sometimes I am slightly not right )
48 hours seems to be about the cut off point for getting BR files.

Battle Recorder definitely works, no problems whatsoever. I personally setup BR on our server and test it everytime someone says they have a problem.

Remember we only store 100 BR files, in other words 100 rounds. Once 100 rounds has passed they will start to overwrite the files. If you leave it too long to D/L the BR files they may have been over-written. If this is the case the files will be no longer available.

I suggest to make sure you get your BR files, to donwload them after you stop playing. If you leave it longer than say 3 days then 100 rounds may have gone by in which case the file you were after may been over written.

We can't run both SF and BF2 maps in the same map rotation, without shutting the server down and switching between the two. As the Mrs says its usually on a daily rotation but can sometimes be 2 days on BF2 and 2 days on SF.

Was the BR file BF2 vanilla or from SF? You have to download it from the revelant version however I don't think it shows up as a bookmark if you say load BF2 and you want to download an SF BR file.

It was vanilla, tried twice straight after the match, and a couple of times today via bf...
