Any way to find friends online outside the game?

I'm imagining that somebody must have come up with an app that runs outside of BF2 that allows you see when your friends come online, and what server they're playing on, so you can join them. Anybody know of such a thing? I see there's one that runs through MSN Messenger, so I don't want that, I want a completely standalone kind of thing. Anybody?

Xfire. Chat to your friends ingame and also know when they're online and which server they're at.

OK so Gamespy Arcade does that, IF you subscribe monthly or pay $9.95 for a year. But does the Buddy Positioning System require that all your friends ALSO have Gamespy logins? I want something that can track people by their BF2 logins alone.

all seeing eye.

supposedly its fixed so you can track.......and JOIN the server they are playing on.
I used to use it for desert combat. But who knows.

I use this most of the time. You can create a list and see what server they are playing.

I use BF2Tracker and BF2S to find out where my friends are playing.

I WOULD use The All-Seeing Eye if it wasn't still broken...
