Re: (PATCH) SOLUTION TO VEHICLE TK'ers

Or how about you just find a server that actually enforces the no intentional TK rule? We hardly ever have a problem with this on our server. If you are caught intentionally TK'ing for a vehicle - you are banned.

You need to find yourself a good server, with a good player base.

When you have good admins that enforce the rules - the players pretty much police themselves and keep the garbage out. Before I found my current server and clan, I had only a select handful of servers that I played on for these very reasons.

Thats the problem however, there is a lack of server support. In Australia the only 2 servers are the internode and gamespace servers. They are in many but they suck. Horrible lag, no admins around, constant rubbish. So i go on New Zealand servers which have no lag and no admin support either. If I were to go to any other server, my ping would be too high.

As we've all figured out, TK'ing on purpose is just bad all around. First someone TK's you for a vehicle (You lose). When you respawn, you find the bastard, and park your G36 up his stupid arse for the rest of the round, and end with a score of -400 (You lose again). However, friendly fire keeps everyone honest, otherwise we would all just lob grenades and C4 at each other without consequence.

So, why not just REVERSE the effects? If you Fuzz up and blast one of your own with the mega popular F2000 GL, or whatever floats your boat, YOU DIE instead! If some 4 year old lacks the capacity to share his helicopter with you, and shoots you in the face as you're doing your after-start checks, HE DIES! Kinda sucks when it's accidental, but why should anyone suffer for YOUR mistake? YOU lose the points and YOU get a 15 second time out. I know it's not true to life, but this would curb this nasty little habbit pretty quickly!

          What do you guys think?

          I think it's BULLET PROOF!

It's called reflective friendly-fire and it sucks ass. Go play a big TDM on CoD2 that has it on and you'll see.

            To all you nay-sayers

(Revolution) this is why laws and police force exist today. People finally realized that they're too stupid and too dishonest to police themselves. there has to be a threat of retribution for wrong doings, or they will continue to happen. What I would really love is for the people that commit these "crimes" to be permanently booted, but that won't happen, so we'll just have to find a way to prevent them from doing it.

AND I'M OFFERING A FRICKIN SOLUTION, NOT COMPLAINING DESTRUCTIVELY

So good day to YOU, ma'am

A forum is about open discussion. It sounds like you forgot that.

I think the TK player should'net be killed, but punished with 50% HP loss or something

I would say that just is not right, and that insinuation is even more insane. Good day sir...I said GOOD DAY SIR !!!!!
I'm all for open discussion, as I'm the guy that facilitated this one. I'm just saying, things like the above are destructive and inflamatory. Not to mention annoying. If you disagree that's cool, just don't be an arse about it.

Re: (PATCH) SOLUTION TO VEHICLE TK'ers

Rim, bravo for having an idea and putting it up for discussion.

I don't like it, simply because I think we'll be trading one dodgy system for another. I can see the griefers having a field day jumping in front of guns or chasing grenades, getting the fair players killed for no good reason.

There has only been one system I can remember reading of that I liked. That was one where forgive was default and player accounts were issued a limited number of punish votes per rank. Servers would be changed to strictly enforce player kick/ban based on punished TKs. Also, the system would maintain a persistant recording of punished TKs against CD keys, not accounts.

This way, we get around players who punish like there's no tomorrow. Also, players who are intentionally TKed will have to consider whether it is worth using up one of their limited punish votes on that particular offence. Punishes are tallied against CD key to stop the creation of specific TK identities. Once a players' global punish votes hits a limit his/her CD key is temp-banned from all public servers for a limited period. Perhaps you could even argue for a permaban under certain circumstances.

Bottom line, it's elaborate and complex, but I think it will encourage forgiveness for accidental TKs and regular punishment of blatant intentionals. TKers will face the very real risk of having all their accounts banned if they continue to be so anti-social.

Re: (PATCH) SOLUTION TO VEHICLE TK'ers

Simple solution is to play only on servers with admins(kiddie kickers).

The server I frequent actually kicks losers for cutting in front of someone clearly waiting for a vehicle.

Like the line at your local fast food restaraunt, you wait while people ahead of you go first. If you walked past someone at the counter, you'd expect to have your ass beaten wouldn't you?

I like the idea, although it isnt new, in DFBHD we had something similar called reflective damage.
Does what it says, very effective.
