I have just found out there may be a charge for teh next patch, please tell me this isnt true, i have spent £60 on this game and expansion and now i find out that they are going to charge for the next patch.

Surely they cant do this and its only available online, which is even worse as i dont use credit or debit cards, so whats the public of BF saying. I didnt see this being done with the bf1942 so why now!!!!!!!

I could of read it wrong but here you go, the ad ons are being charged for but not the patches, but to get the extra features you pay....#

yep, since EA took over DICE all of battlefield became a money making machine...

the patches are probably the only thing they dont charge u for and will stay like that.

of course that before u could get all kinds of maps and weapons and vehicles in new patches and now thats gone...

DICE belongs to EA now, its all about money making strategies in the big companies..

You are not going to be charged for the PATCH. However if there is an expansion you will have to pay for that. The thread that you are linking to is mixing the issues as far as I can see. You should not not be worried about the patch.

BF1942 took 6 patches and over 18 months to fix after initial release, lets see if it goes the same this time. I'm sure we'll all notice if the EA guys with big balls are trying to screw us over :laugh:

take for example:: WestWood, Command&Conquer, that series was the best till tiberian sun, then red alert 2 got weak, cheap boring, it was too easy to beat, EA destroys everything, they are money hungry bastards

C&C never was really hard, and I don't think C&C really saw a huge decline until Generals. Generals isn't all that terrible, it just seems to not last as long as the other C&C games did. That could be me though, once you've owned one C&C game you pretty much have what it takes to beat any of them. I found my challenge in a lot of Generals scenarios not winning it, but a personal goal of not losing any units. :p Aalthough the Red Alert 2 AI wasn't great, I agree. Start a skirmish with all the bots on brutal, they'll throw stuff at you at first, but if you defend it off a few times and then start to put pressure on them, they absolutely fall apart, kind of sad really.

Throw Maxis in there too. Sim City anyone? Mention that to EA and they'll go "Um...did you mean the Sims? I've never heard of Sim City." I truely feel sorry for all the great developers that have been belittled by EA.

PS: Anyone notice how Battlefield 2 looks sort of like an FPS version of Generals?
