The game has a TALKING tutorial IN GAME, come on, that is probably the best way to learn crap, who wants to sit around and read a manual when you just bought a $50 game?
Another thing u should learn is to ladder slide, many may say "Who dosn't know that" well i didnt, i would ask and ask other players i would see doing the ladder side but they would never tell me. So one day reading through some of the forums i found out that u have to be going down the ladder while holding the sprint button.
Don't worry about the icons and such, most of them are useless. the stripes mean ranked server, and that's really the only one you need to know .
Remember the RED skull and bones does NOT mean "Free Cookies Here", that is most important. :salute:
Also is you hit the ALT key you cvan turn off some icons in game and the turn them back on.
Best advice I have for infantry is to know your weapon.
It takes a little while to figure out the characteristics of each weapon. What each is good at and what it isn't. As soon as you shoot there is a good chance you will give up your position. Make sure you are in the best spot to use your weapon.
In BF this goes beyond making sure you are close before you use unload your jackhammer on someone. Each weapon has slightly different characteristics, even weapons for the same kit but different armies will need to be fired differently. One example is the M16. On semi auto you can fire it slightly faster than the AK and still not lose accuracy.
Knowing how long to wait between each shot will save your life. If you hurry the AK you will lose accuracy and not hit your target, but slow down and let the extra dmg do its work and you will kill them. Fire the M16 too slow and your opponent will take you out with an AK or run behind cover before that 3rd or 4th shot can take them down.
Try to use a SAW like a PKM and you will have serious problems as well. Each gun in this game can be effective (except the mp5 ).
No one can tell you how to use these weapons, only experience and trial and error will get you better. If you are like me you will jump into the game and get your arse handed to you over and over till you figure it out, or you could set up single player against easy bots and calmly take out the target dummies (I do this also when I give up on my chopper practice, I still can't fly the damn thing).
Your weapons are what kill people, know how to use them effectively, even the pistol and the knife.
A mate of mine has been playing BF2 for about six months. It was only last month did he found out that he could hold down the mouse button and keep the sights up for the anti-tank.
Wot makes it more funny, is that was very good with the Anti-tank before.
So thats how I get hit with an sraw at 100 feet...
Here's a noob question (I just got the game yesterday)...
Wow...a virgin.
I remember my first time on BF2. Life's been different ever since. I asked my gf for SF for Christmas. She said "No!!! Then I'll never see you!". I never did get SF, but I might buy it myself.
Dude...i'm still learning. This place is like a second home for me.
My only advice...dont turn to the Dark Side. Die like a man instead of winning like a girl. And earn your badges/ribbons.
