I'm sure they've messed up the insides of the static models in the expansion or something...
Wow, that's when i notice it too!

    Very strange indeed.

        Re: Performance issue?

You'd think indoors would be smoother since there is less to render and it's not like the indoor environments are all that complex and detailed to be lagging like that. I think I'm going to try Omega 5.11 Catalyst drivers. I was getting ridiculous lag on Warlord and I don't like getting killed by people who suck because I empty a clip into their back and they live and they turn around and grenade launch me. Or I grenade launch them and see it explode at their feet and they live...

Yeh.. that's puzzling me, outdoors is smoother than indoors :\

I still have yet to try the heli again on surge to see whether it still stutters like crazy.
I've yet to find a way to drop my detail level lower than 'low' unfortunately. Running a 2.53GHz p4 celeron, 768mb ram, 128mb 9800pro, I get about 30 FPS outdoors. It just dies indoors-around 5 FPS, unplayable.

I don't see why SF should need more power-the system req. is the same, and after all, it's just some new maps and tools.

It's very confusing that the indoors thing happens. I say, chalk it up to yet another bug in the game. The engine is so inefficient and slow. Running around a little 16 player map with everything on low and resolution of 1024x768 looks terrible-I have games much older than BF2 that need far less power to draw levels that look much nicer. And yet BF2 chugs along at 25-30 FPS...and there can be no excuses about my PC. It's not OMGBBQ1337UBERCOOL but it easily surpasses the min. spec...

SF itself lags. ****ing lame. Vanilla doesn't ever lag.

Maybe they can tweak the game a little in the next patch, just to give us a little better performance.

New drivers won't help. My 3800+, SLI 7800GTX, 2GB memory system struggles with SF while vanilla BF2 is perfect. It's simply poorly optimised.

I pray that the booster packs are created by Dice Sweden, and not the US Dice office...

                      Re: Performance issue?

HicRic drop your RES to 800x600 so you can go lower than what you currently run. Turn off dynamic light and shadows, not have them on low turn them off. Put everything else on low and put textures on medium so at least the game doesn't look too terrible.

Your main problem is 768meg of ram is not enough. Though you said you get the same effect in 16 player maps and people with grunty rigs get the same. My PC is no powerhouse but I don't get any fps drops on iron gator or indoors on warlord. I use to have lagging choppers whilst flying too but now I don't, I only lowered my detail and all the probs went away.

                        Nah man.

His main problem is that Celeron chip. It has a low L2 cache. Can't handle as much data as the P4s can.

                          Another update!

Just went into Special Forces for a few games, since there were a lot of m203 whores in vanilla.

Got into ghost town first (IMO, the best SF map) then the server switched to....wait for it!....IRON GATOR!

I had no slowdowns tonight. I have all my settings on medium and high and full AA (6x) and it was a full 64 player server. No slowdowns on any SF map tonight. I guess my computer is being good to me for now. By the way, i still have the latest cat drivers (5.13)

I only have 1GB RAM as well.

I'm also getting an extra computer in a few days. It has a P4 64bit processor with a nice 2mb L2 cache.

Anyone think 64bit processors make any difference?

                          Thanks for reading/replying!

I thought they only had two offices, one in Canada and one in Sweden?

Unless you are running Windows XP 64bit and/or software that utilises the 64bit command structure, I don't think it would make a big difference. I hear that playing Far Cry on WinXP-64 with the 64bit patch notice a nice performance increase, but the game was planned to play on 64bit at the time of production.

                                PEACE
