Needed: Squad names on the command screen!

I'm suprised more people haven't complained about this little pain in the rear. As soon as you become commander, there's no way to see the names of each sqaud or it's member's names. All you get is squad numbers.

This might not seem like a big deal, right up until you start talking to them.
Try saying "Squad 4, I need you to move up to..." and see if #4 (AKA Jihadsquad) get's it.

All we need is a way to see some bleedin names!

This would also make squad names a more handy feature. If you name you're squad "Holding Force" you could reasonably expect you commander to understand you want to play defence. "KillEverything" might be a desent name for the run 'n gun club.

Anyway, just a random thought born of irritation.

I hate this too, never really thought to complain about it though, but I rarely complain about anything to be honest unless it really ****ed me off. :p

Although you can look at their names if you just pressed ENTER

Since I noticed not that many people use the VOIP system and more so the commanders, what I like to do when I create a squad on a voice enabled servers is press the V key and say something like "Hey Boss! This is Aradiel from Squad 3. Anything you need to be done?" to check wether I get any reaction.

If I get no answer I know I'll have to cope with a mute Cder. On the other hand it has ellicited some answer like "ah... yeah... ah... well ok, attack there" and once the commander knows he has a squad at least trying to pretend listening to the commander's orders, it's a whole lot easier to get supplies, arty, UAV because he feels he "invests" those assets in useful ways or at least to help people willing to follow orders and cooperate.

And there I agree that it would be nice
- for the commander to have Both number & squad name
- for the squad leaders & members to have their squad name & number written in the HUD

Sometimes as commander I'll say squad two, one enemy unit looks to be sniper in your area.

I get no response from the team or anything saying they got the point they just take the flag and move on just to have the enemy take the flag then they come back ect..

Maybe this seems obvious, but why not label the Squads "A", "B", "C" on the Commander map instead of 1,2,3 because you're more likely to remember joining Charlie Squad than being in Squad #3... ?

Anyways, there's certainly enough space on the left-hand panel to put the Squad names above each row. I'd do that instead of clouding up an already busy map.

It's a nice idea, that's true. Then again, most commanders wouldn't care either way. How many commanders do you know that actually use VOIP? That actually look at what classes their squads have and where they're at AND use them accordingly?
Most commanders I've encountered have no qualms with telling a squad of a medic, a supply guy and an antitanker capturing a base in the enemy's back to "get some repairs" to the artillery. I could name my squad Geriatric Goldfishkillers and it wouldn't make a difference.
For the small minority that do put effort into commanding, it would make a nice little feature though, I agree.

I can see so many things wrong with what you said.

1. VOIP won't help because players don't listen to each other or give a damn.
2. What is the point of looking at what classes are in a squad if they won't listen to you?
3. And how would I use a team if they will not listen to the commander, their allies, and squad leader?

The game is set up to allow you to follow orders but the world is not that far ahead yet so the game fails in that area. The game itself is a perfect concept but the players are not yet ready for such a task.

And what is with you all with half nude women showing their breast? You all having your I need lovin from the oven phase?

that is not always the case. obviously, any tool that can make the commander's job easier is welcomed.
