Im running a Dell 2.4ghz 768ddr and a evga 6800 unlocked and overclocked. the game runs really well. More ram would be a big help, but i plan on building me a new rig this month anyways.

Yea thats not really helping the problem. But did you mean 768 MB of DDR RAM, as i havent heard of 768 speed DDR RAM.
OK i started to get worried that there was some really new fast RAM out that i didnt know about.. lol.. and dw, its just always a good idea to try and relate your post back to the topic or to add a comment at the end, even if its just repeating what someone else has said, lol.
Yea thats true, I dont think the 7800GT comes with an AGP slot, although i could be wrong there, but i do know that you can get the 850XL in AGP. Depending on how much you want to spend if you get a bit mroe RAM (up to say 1 gig) and a new card you could leave the res of you rig alone and be able to play on all high.

You're right the 7800 doesn't come in AGP. If money isn't an issue than yeah probably an ATI 850. Otherwise 6600GT's are cheap now, or for a little more get a 6800GS, they come in APG as well.
I have heard, and im sure this is true that battlefield 2 is immensely demanding on systems so if any could offer advice on whether this is enough that would be cool.

More ram, 2 gig is the current sweet spot, and Geforce 6800 GT or better with 256 megs of ram.
Dunno what current Ati cards would do.
I play everything on max at 1024x768 and never had a slow down no matter what was going on.

What about the 6800GT or is it too similar to the GS, and after OC'ing (if you plan to do that at all) which would be a better choice?
The GT is better than the GS (more pipelines and clocked a little faster I think), the problem is that they don't make them anymore so finding one might be tough. At least they're scarce in Canada.
they arent that scarce in the US, on newegg.com. They do have more pipelines, and you CANNOT unlock any on the GS, but the GS is clocked almost 100mhz faster. they perform almost exactly the same until you OC.

So if your not planning on OC'ing then get the GS as (i think) they are cheaper) but if you are get the GT??
