paparasplay i have your same problem, i can't install any bf2 patch by the esecutable, but i know i different method... but i can't install SF. so help me to install SF in safe mode and i help you to install patch 1.12. well to install patch 1.12 you must double click on the esecutable of tha patch, chose the language, but DON'T CLICK ON "NEXT"; now go to your documents folder and to this location:

c:\documents\YOUR USERNAME\local settings\temp

and look for a folder which looks like {BLAH....} lots of numbers and chars. Go into that folder structure and copy the files in it (e.g. patch.exe, all the files) to a folder where you can execute them (e.g. create a dir named C:\temp). now return to

c:\documents\YOUR USERNAME\local settings\temp

near tha folder with lots of numbers and chars, there are some other directories, in one of them (my folder is called bye4B.tmp, but it may different from you) you will find another directory named "disk1". inside there are "bf2" and "xp1". "bf2" contains the 1.12 patch for bf2 and "xp1" contains the patch 1.12 for SF (you need this one i think). so copy PATCH.RTD and PATCH.RTP in the folder where you copied the other files (e.g. create a dir named C:\temp). then open a commandpromt (type "cmd" in run/execute at startmenu) and go to your new created folder with the patchdata. Execute the patch with the following line (edit to your installfolder location of course):

patch.exe "c:\FolderWhereBF 2Is"

it should work :). now please help me to install SF in safe mode :)

i installed it! now i can play with special forces!! (however after the SF installation, i have installed the 1.12 patch more simply in safe mode; it works!) :)

Ok I have the same problem, right now both programs are completely uninstalled for me and I'm awaitin instructions. There are so mayn different methods here, can somebody just give me a difinitive list of things to do in order?

combining all that has been said above i used my own weird methods which was:

format c:\
reinstall windows
(may also try removing everything named EA and BF from register; run->regedit ; find BF ; Find EA - remove all things related with patch game and EA games BF 2; remove all from c:\document and settings\"username"\local settings\temp\*.*)

install BF 2 in safe mod
reboot
start install BF 2 1.12 patch in safe mod... halt and proceed to patching
go to documents\user\local settings\temp - u need to show system and hidden files
copy all files from {7aeo-0H021k~etc~H01KA} to BF 2 folder
copy all files (*.RPT ; *.RTD) to BF 2 folder - located in some temp\#key\BF1 ; XP1
figure out that these filkes occur to be extraction of 1.12 patch file
run patch.exe in safe MOD - get some errors
run patch exe several times - make sure all files have been updated

finally i have a BF 2 patched - but now my game won't load - i get crash to desktop. I guess it is drivers directx and ATI radeon to blame ; or maybe some video option?
