Hey a little server help needed please

Hi,

I Have had BF2 almost since it came out... but haven't played it for about 2 months... during this time it was uninstalled from my PC. I looked it out, reinstalled it and went to play it oline and discovered that 99% of the servers i can't get into. They appear red in the server browser and when i try to join one it says

"you have failed to connect. Please check your network conections and then try again"

As far as i know, apart from switching to firefox, nothing to do with my internet has changed. BF2 is on the allow list of all my security programes. I just don't get it.

Could anyone explain?
I'm sorry if this is an amazingly obvious question but my knowledge of computers is limited to say the least

ok, now sounding like a complete idiot i shall ask why the patch isn't working.

I downloaded it from ea and when i click the .exe the cursor changes to the hourglass for a few moments then it goes back to normal and nothing happens.

Does anyone know why this might happen and how to remedy the situation?

Disable antivirus before installing?

Some people find it works when they boot up into safe mode to install the patch.

hey, after looking through the patching failed thread i managed to get the patch to work. Then i logged on to my BF2 online profile and all the servers still appeared red!
I'm getting desperate... can anyone help?

When you run BF2, what version number does it display (should be near the top-right on the screen with the menu on top).

it says 1.1.2484.0 does that sound about right?
