    PC Hardware: PCIx vs. AGP

I'm not sure what forum this goes in, if this is wrong, I'll apologize in advance.

I have a question for those guru's out there. I want a new video card, I'm thinking the 6800 or 7200 gt. I'm trying to find an AGP 8x version, but it seems that I can only find PCIx versions. Now, I was going to go ahead and shell out some cash for a new MoBo w/ PCIx slots, but I can't find any MoBo's that support my CPU (Intel P4, socket 478)

Here's the million dollar question, if I get a MoBo that supports PCIx, do I have to get one of those new LGA775 socket CPU's to go with it? Or does someone make a MoBo w/ at least one PCIx slot that also supports socket 478?

    Thanks :)

I'm sharing the same thoughts as you. And I can tell you that there is MoBos, that supports Socket 478 and PCI-e, but they only got enough space for 2x ram blocks.

I have one here from Asus: P4GPL-X
    Norwegian link: http://www.shg.no/link.asp?goto=infobox&varenr=310775

There's also 1 or 2 more but I can't remember which one it was. Good luck man! :)

I can't seem to find a site that sells the P4GPL-X anywhere. I need a site that sells this puppy for US dollars, and I can't find any

This makes no sense, Pricerunner.com has the P4GPL-X, but when I click the US flag at the top so I can find out the cost in US dollars, the P4GPL-X is no where to be seen ...

        Very annoying...

Gratz on the purchase though, hehe

I was told most games don't even take advantage of the PCIx features. Of course, I could be wrong, though.
