This site has a CTF mod, its a great mod with a few maps, all it needs is a larger player base.

I love this idea Gimpy. A TKOTH would be easy to do as well, just have 2 Uncappable bases, with 1 base thats able to be captured in the middle of the map on a large hill.

LOL imagine filling up a BH with 1 driver and 2 gunners, all 3 of them squad leaders, and then just let all 3 squads HALO out of the Helo onto the enemys uncappable base.

BUT back to the Team DM.

The Total BF2 Clan routinly plays a bunch of custom maps, so if they already dont have a map like this, I'm sure if someone made it, they would play it. Getting players to play the map wouldn't be that hard to do.

      Hrm.
Well, that give me something to think about.

I'm snooping to do some sorta project. Have thought about lending a hand with the WH40K mod project (since I found out that GW actually supports it!)but mapping could me more interesting since it would be something I could do on my own without the hassles of working with a team (don't get me wrong, I enjoy working with teams... but it is a hassle).

There's quite a few ideas I'd like ta play with without resorting to a mod.

All the power to you Gimpy, I'd defenatly play those maps, and I can think of a few Non ranked servers that would like them as well.

Hehe... how much of the thread do you read, Var?

Yeah, I could definatly see camping being an issue with the game play, but I think that would actually be part of the flavor. It would be more like actual combat than a run-and-gun shooter. Stealth would rule on maps that didn't include UAVs 'n scans. On maps with full assets, Arty would be a major deterent to camping.

How about a map that's handled this way that's entierly air based? A dog fighter's map with some scattered AA vehicles and emplacments?

Or a bomber heavy team vs a heavily defended ground base?

            There's lots of possibilities here...

              Love the idea Wargimp.
I believe you're entirely accurate that it would stress the team aspect of the game with non-team-players getting slaughtered on a biblical scale (Now that sounds like fun!).
What I really would love to see is a game where all players play in squads and all suads sre coordinated by the commander, aka real battle.
Real combat is like a chess match (if the sides are even...rarely in this day and age). I've read volumes on american civil war tactics and I'd love to see that kind of flavor added to the game. Obviously this would require that all players have microphones and headsets (I can't see the point in playing the game without them but I suppose some people can't afford them). Of the thousands of games I've played I've seen this kind of mass coordination MAYBE twice. Both times the commanders were absolutely superb and the squad commanders were brilliant as well.
Combine this with a map where there are no points to capture and you'll quickly discover that there are indeed strategic points on every map...whether they're marked with a little flag or not. Capturing the high ground has been the objective of every army since the time of the Carthiginians and Romans. Vital roadways, natural points of cover, etc...
This would turn the game into a tactician's dream. Only people with knowledge of actual combat (whether firsthand or through study) would be able to fully take advantage of the limitless possibilities.
Wargimp....if you make such a map you gotta let me know cause i'll be one of the first to sign up!
              Great idea.

Re: An uncapturable base vs uncapturable base map?

I like the idea you mentioned back on the first page; if one uncap base causes too much base/spawn camping, try 2 or 3 per side (or just make many spawns and VERY far from the flag so that there is effectively no base at all). I think the main point isn't the single base but that fact that there's no flag capping which makes it more of a team deathmatch with squads. Squads might work together to hold good camping locations like hills with good cover and fields of fire instead of flags. (And of course I'd like to see all the other game modes like CTF, etc. too.)
