So now all my demos in "community" are red and unplayable since SF came out. Is there a known fix for this? Do I need to move them to a different folder or something? I seem to remember this issue a while back when it first came out, but can't find any fixes. I posted this in the support forum aweek or so ago and got no response, maybe there's more traffic here.

Seems like everytime there's a patch, any demo's you've made on previous version fail to playback.Comment

Re: Playing demos since SF came out.
Right, but the demos I have that I am trying to watch are new videos, and according to TWL rules (from what I read), servers must be running the latest version, so I'd think they are the same version.
But, I forgot the real problem...when I try to click on a red demo listing, BF2 shuts down to desktop. So not only can I not watch demos, but it shuts down completely.
Is there a way to convert demos to use them with WMP, or Quicktime, or something?Comment

Re: Playing demos since SF came out.
Hmm, maybe try going into the community tab then into Custom Game, clicking on the game type you want either sf, vanilla or any mods you may have in there then in the far bottom right corner go activate. Not sure if it will help but it might.
Alternatively you could try to get them through Battle Launcher but there is no way that I know of to convert them with WMP, or QuicktimeComment

How are people posting videos that are battlerecoder demos? Like the "Knife Guru" one.Originally posted by MrsHmm, maybe try going into the community tab then into Custom Game, clicking on the game type you want either sf, vanilla or any mods you may have in there then in the far bottom right corner go activate. Re: Playing demos since SF came out.
I know what he's talking about. I played on the R2 server cause I knew it had BR running...but when I went to pull the file, I got an error message. I tried a few other's servers that I had book marked that BR worked on and got the same thing. I passed it up as something was broken with the current patch.
We just got BR running setup (I hope) on our unranked server for ladder play. Haven't tested it yet, but looking forward to it.Comment

Re: Playing demos since SF came out.
I download the BR files all the time from the R2 server no probs. I do it with either the ingame bookmarks or BattleLauncher. I also know quite a few others have done the same. What was the error it said?
You will not be able to view the red demo files, they are from an older patch. Which is why it probably shuts down to desktop.Originally posted by Auto-ER-But, I forgot the real problem...when I try to click on a red demo listing, BF2 shuts down to desktop. Re: Playing demos since SF came out.
Whe you see a demo file that you have stored already on your PC as red that means that it was recorded using a different version to what you have now. If you try to play these it will result in you crashing to desktop.
Our server saves 100 BR files. So if you play a round and 101 rounds pass before you decide to download it, it will be over written. I suggest you download the BR files from our server after you have finished playing for the day to ensure they still exist and haven't been written over.
Gimpy posted up a BR file from a game he played last night on our server. I have also checked it again and it definitely works I say you tried to download it too late as in being days later and it was over written.
Download that BR file in the thread put it in this location My Documents/Battlefield 2/profiles/default/demos. It will then appear in your list when you click community on the right hand side and should be white meaning its been recorded using the same version you have. If you see it as red means you aren't patched up to 1.12 as the BR file was recorded using 1.12
BR definitely works for 1.12 and is not broken.
Hope this helpsComment
