I get this unusual graphic effect. See the screen shot for what it is. It usually occures when I am killed, or have explosions going off (like arty, nades, ect) and most often clears up by the time I respawn, or in 15-20 seconds. Any ideas? I can still shoot and move, but my screen does not refresh to show my movement, however, my HUD does update to show my ammo going down or my health going down if I am being shot.

Is your card overclocked? Looks like artifacts. Download ATI tool and check your settings for artifacts.

its not overlcocked, and after 27mins, no artifacts

Artifacts are old pieces of info. I think your problem is your processor you should get a better one, because the 2800 is pretty old.

Have you updated your video drivers? If not get the 5.11 drivers from ATI.

2800 is not old m8.. i run at 2500. i've also seen people that run with 2100's.

My current setup :
AMD Athlon XP+ 2800 'Barton' @ 2.088ghz
768MB PC2700 RAM
ATI Radeon 'Built by ATI' 9800 Pro 128mb @ Stock

I run @ 1024x768 with everything on medium, with the exception of geometry set on Ultra_High (yes, it's possible) dynamic lighting and shadows on Low and special effects on high.

What you're experiencing is NOT artifacting. And they are not 'old pieces of info', they are errors displayed by the video RAM. Which are caused by :
1) Faulty hardware
2) Insufficient power reaching the graphics card (weak or old PSU's that just aren't giving their amps)
3) Overheating of the graphics card memory or core.
4) Clock speeds reaching higher than their supported rate by the graphics card core/memory

However, that is mostly irrelevant for now.
For the most part, it looks like this is more of the 'dizzy' effect in Battlefield 2. As long as your graphics card drivers are up to date, and your monitor's refresh rate is as high as the monitor supports, it should appear properly.

Def not the processor. The 2800 is an awesome processor. I'm using an AMD Sempron 3000 (oc to 2400) but I think I'm putting my 2800 barton back in.

I have the newest drivers tho, cat 5.13 I think it was (the one taht came out on dec 20th) but I'l try to add more cooling to comp to see how it works, and increase my refresh rate.

Yea i have had some of these issues, but they would only occour when i was OC'ing too much (before i knew how to do it propperly) Now i can have it OC'ed and it runs fine.
