how to create my own server

my friend and I just want to create a server to practice flying on a map, but we dont want to pay.

We did this in BF1942 , one of us just create a server using "Create server" button then tells the other his server and he joins.

can we do the same in BF2, if yes, how ?

we just want an empty map

Just create a single player game. I'm pretty sure you can connect to it after that. Just tell your friend your IP address. I think that will work atleast. I'm pretty suresingle player is just multiplayer with bots. I don't think EA changed anything else.

I haven't tried it before but its worth a try.

It doesn't work in BF2 because in BF2 the "create a server" just creates a local server (LAN). If you want to host a multiplayer server, you need the Battlefield 2 standalone server app.
