    Your Gaming Head Set?

    Hey guys.

I went out the other day and put a couple bucks down for my computer.

    I purchased:
    PowerColor X800GTO 16
    JBL Encounter Speakers
    Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse
    and Logitech headset and mic....

the HeadSet wasnt picking up sound very well....I think the mic was to short and small. Im returning it.

I was wondering what you guys used and any ideas you might have when choosing... should i do usb or jacks? i have both on the front of my computer for easy access.

Im going to Best buy again tonight, so any help would be appriciated.

I am using Labtec Gaming fx:1 headset and it is ok. Before that I had some cheap Creative headset and it died after 2 months of playing. This Labtec thing is cheap but works fine. It is something like 15 dolars here in Croatia.

I have the Sennheiser pc165 usb headset, and they are amazing, expensive, but well worth it.

I use the same set that Gabe Newell used when he was working on HL2. These are simply AMAZING 5.1 sound headphones but very expensive.

                    ftw

EDIT: And Fledermaus, mine survived "Durability Test #17", I was able to re-attach the microphone and coil the wire back up inside the ear-thing.

cannot those manufacturers come up with a stunt and make a real surround sound headset? so it will look like a hat or helmet on the head or something similar? that will probably be cool, if it works.

I use an old POS RadioShack headset with blown earpieces. They're ugly and the sound doesn't work very well anymore, but the mic is still one of the best I've found.
I've actually picked up two replacements, but neither had the same quality of mic pickup. I just wear 'em around my neck and use my suround speakers for sound.
