I believe that being a sniper is a style of gameplay that can be executed with other kits, not a specific kit itself. But that's old news.
    L85A1:> Bullets: 150, Damage: 32, Accuracy: .288, Recoil: 0.18, Zoom: 2.5x, Fire: Semi & Full
    G36C:> Bullets: 150, Damage: 25, Accuracy: .054, Recoil: 0.1, Zoom: 1.4x, Fire: Semi & Full
    SVD:> Bullets: 50, Damage: 45, Accuracy: .008, Recoil: 1, Zoom: 3.3x, Fire: Semi
    M24:> Bullets: 25, Damage: 95, Accuracy: .004, Recoil: 1, Zoom: 5x, Fire: Single
    M95:> Bullets: 25, Damage: 95, Accuracy: .008, Recoil: 1, Zoom: 5x, Fire: Single

Medic Kit: Infinate Heals, Infinate Revives (Other players only)

SF Kit: 5 C4 charges, silenced pistol, Zip Line (BF2SF Only)

Sniper Kit: 2 Claymores, silenced pistol, Guille suit (BF2v Only), Zip Line (BF2SF Only)

Many maps have the fog settings right at or less than 150 meters.
It is my experience that the L85A1 and the G36C can outshoot any sniper rifle at less than 150m.

C4 is triggered, but claymores are teamkills waiting to happen.

Snipers are best replaced by medics, but if there is armor around the special forces kit is a better choice.

    AK101:> Bullets: 120, Damage: 37, Accuracy: .288, Recoil: 0.32, Zoom: 1.7x, Fire: Semi & Full
    M16A2:> Bullets: 120, Damage: 30, Accuracy: .192, Recoil: 0.08, Zoom: 1.7x, Fire: Semi & Full

3 - may sound funny but tank gunners! it's suicide for any infantry to let loose at a tank gunner, they'll get blown to peices by the tank itself. A sniper is far more safer shooting from a far as the tank driver himself won't notice that a sniper is trying to kill his gunning bud.
That's sometimes very risky. If I hear the distinctive "tink" on my tank of a sniper missing my gunner, (or the gunner VOIPing me that he's getting sniped), I will move my tank like a maniac and punish everything around me with main cannon and chaingun until that sniper is dead. The constant moving will make it harder for the sniper to hit, and in many cases the sniper starts moving to hit the gunner while I'm driving behind obstacles. Once the tank sees the sniper, he's toast.
So I'd say, yes, go for the gunners, but if the tankist starts to scan for you, just get the **** away immediately. On any other map than daqing, your ghillie isn't worth so much, and most cover won't protect you from the main cannon's splash damage - even if it takes only one bar of health from you, the hit indicator will give you away.
