I have been looking into a new video card since im having problems with mine. So I have been looking into a BFG GeForce 7800GTX OC PCI-E 256MB 256BIT GDDR3 Dual DVI HDTV VIVO SLI Ready Video Card. Here's the link for the card http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...Specifications

And I was wondering if this card is compadible with my computer. How can I tell? How do I find my computer infomation? What do I look in the info to see if it's compatable with my computer? And how do I tell if I have a PCI Express slot?

one way is you could look on your mother board and see if your video card slot is a pcix16 but you wuold have to know what those look like. another way is to see what kind of card you have now, and se what type it is,(agp, pci, etc)
or you coud tell us the name of your comp and i could try to look up and see what type it supports,
and btw DO NOT get that card, you are getting ripped off majorly here a a few that i would recommend

i have the second one and i run bf2 at all gigh settings and res. at 1600x1200
which is perfect, so i would reccomend that one but if you have to have a 7800gtx than the first one is good.(as you can see both are way better priced than the one you showed.)

also before you get the card i reccomend you look at yoru power supply and see if it has enough empty power connectors to support the 7800 because you have to have 2 extra to power this baby.

I'm using a BFG 7800 512 meg.and its by far the best card I've owned.But moneys not really a problem for me.Being an old gamer does have advantages,not many but money is one of them.

I have always used BFG video cards up until recently. They always had really great customer service, and they still do. I go through a dealer that orders my parts through MaLabs, and he said that BFG stuff has really started going down the crapper and it's because the newer Nvidia drivers tend to not work on their cards very well. I think if you go with a nicer brand like eVGA and just get the 7800 GT, you'll pay a little more but you'll be a lot happier. If you dig around in some of the old posts in these forums, you'll see that a lot of people that have had trouble running this game have had BFG cards. Granted they were often AGP slot, but there were some PCI-e's too.

ALSO, if you're having to get a new motherboard, prepare for the snowball effect. A new mobo often means a new case, processor, RAM, etc. In other words, a whole new computer.

A card for that kind of money, get a 512MB version for futureproofing. Current games besides doom 3 don't use the frame buffer much yet but they will, oh how they will. For the money, the eVGA 7800GT 256MB seems to fit the bill nicely, though.

That's the canadian price for it (since im canadian) but the store that I bough my computer has the EXCACT same card for $469.99 (plus tax)

This card cant be as crappy as mine now! I have a ATI RADEON 9600. It gives me soo much problems, like crashing when i play any games that say "Plays Best On Nvidia" and getting me to non-stop blue screens. Im not really looking into a POFESSIONAL VIDEO CARD. Im just looking for a video card that has a good rating from other people who knows a lot about video cards. And by the rating from NCIX, im pretty damn satisfyed.

I'm assuming and very likely correct, that your motherboard supports only up to AGP8x. Do not buy any graphics card that are listed as PCI-E (PCI Express) as they just won't work, you'll need a PCI-E motherboard for that.

Unless you know your 9600 is faulty, don't point the finger. In all my years as a technician its highly doubtful that the graphics card will cause a blue screen, and as these carry accurate error (stop x0) codecs, it allows you to identify the culprit at hand.

well I went to the store where I bough my computer and they said it wont work. They reccomended the Nivida 6 series. But when I read the description on their site, in it, it said something to do with PCI EXPRESS. Here's the link ---> http://www.orangepc.net/productitem.php?var1=135

DarKrO, so the blue screen and the crashing to the desktop is not a video card issue? But usually when it goes to a blue screen, there is 2 differnt ones. One says {Fatal Error} and the other one give me the error message that I need to know. Do I just right-click on my computer icon then go to manage? If I do that, then I cant tell which error message it is! So next time I see that message, i'll just copy it down on a piece of paper then copy it down on another thread and i'll also e-mail the message to you, DarKrO.
