    Question about Vid Card Compatibility

Greetings, recently my old ATI 9700 kicked the bucket on me  and now I need to buy a new video card. I was looking at maybe an x1800 or x1600, however I checked the BF2 requirements and did not see these cards listed under the "BF2 will ONLY work with these cards" section. Does anybody know if these series of cards are compatible with BF2 ? Thanks :)

Okay, thanks :). Just checking. I know they came out after BF2 was released, but I read the requirements listed in the newest patch, and they were not there, lol.

None of those cards are compatible with your motherboard, you need an AGP based card in which case the highest card you can buy is an ATI X850XT PE.

Yeah, thanks, I know about the motherboard. I need to buy a new CPU as well. The XP 2400+ just won't cut it anymore. Hmmm....so you guys are saying that the 7800 is better than the newest ATI cards? I've never had a Nvidia card before. Is Nvidia better than ATI?

Re: Question about Vid Card Compatibility

                yes. end of story.

i know that every tech savvy uber nerd i know prefers the 7800 over the ATI stuff.

i know 2 guys who recently put together a 5000 dollar computer each, and they both chose the 7800.

believe me, BF2 likes nvidia a hell of a lot more than ATI.

you can tell with all the nvidia logos and stuff, and how it says the game was "developed and tested on geforce fx, 6 and 7 series cards"

its basically "screw ati users" type of thing. its like half life is better with ati, nvidia is better with bf2.

Ahh, excellent. Thank you. I never liked those catalyst drivers anyway, lol.

                    Honestly.
I do think the 7800 cards are un matched at this time...(just wish I had a PCI-E board and AMD CPU...soon.....oh so soon)

But I'd say it's similar to the age old Chevy vs. Ford....
answer: Depends on what you are looking for.

Nobody needs a 512 card....absolutly ridiculous. Nothing out there can even use that . Just get either a 850 or better...go with an Nvidia 6800 gt or ultra series. Overclockable like mad. And still available in AGP. PLEEZ dont waste ur coin on a 512 card.
