Hi im new to this forum aswell as i am to bf2 (ive had the demo for quite a while but that doesn't count). i have several n00b questions.
To get ranks, awards and such, i can't get those through reqular single/multi player right? if so then how do i get on a server where i play for ranks, awards, points, etc? do i click on the 'Play Now' box at the lower right hand corner of the screen, or do i just go into a ranked server through multi play.
I've tryed both of these methods, with no sucess (the 'play now' thing can't find any servers, and when i finally find a ranked server (ive only ever found one) it was full, i found tonnes of other ranked servers, but they have a red font, and whenever i try to join one it says i have a bad connection/ no connection, or that its a different version (
im confused).
now for the more technical aspect of this problem. do i just have to forward these Client Ports in my firewall to fix the problem? (i got this from the Battlefield 2 General Information Thread):
UDP 27900
UDP/TCP 29900
TCP 80
TCP 4711
TCP 29901
UDP 1500-4999
UDP/TCP 1024-1124
UDP 28910
UDP 16567
UDP 55123-55125
or is the solution to the problem something more complicated?
if this is the solution, should i do some thing about my router aswell? (Netgear WGT624, if it matters, and i have windows xp home, if it matters)
another question, sort of off topic: some times when im playing multiplayer, and a new map begins to load, but im suddenly disconnected and it says i don't have that map, do i just get those missing maps by downloading them of the internet, or do i earn/win them through ranked servers?
