    Installation error!

Hey guys, great forums you got here. Anyway, when i put the BF2 install CD into my computer I get this crazy error message that says:

    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

    Runtime error!

    Program: D:\Autorun.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I've sent a couple emails to EA, but they have not responded.
    My computer's specs:
    Windows XP SP2
    AMD Sempron 2800+
    512MB RAM
    EVGA Motherboard
    Radeon 9600XT

I've tried the CD on another computer and it works fine. Thanks for any help!

    Re: Installation error!

Hmmm, sorry I cant help here. I was just thinking, will you have enough RAM to play BF2? It could be your problem (but I'm not sure so dont go buy more RAM without more people posting). I have 1 gig of RAM and I can only just play on medium settings. But then again, your graphics card is alot better and I'm not too much of a computer person.

So I may be correct but don't go buy more RAM unless you get more replies about needed more.

    Hope this helps.

      Re: Installation error!

If autorun doesn't work, just go to the CD/DVD and find the setup.exe. Autorun actually tries to run setup.exe when installing.

Autorun is just a front for menu installer.
      • Open Windows Explorer via. WINKEY+E or Open My Computer.
      • right-click on the CD drive where BF2 install CD is in, and select Explore or Open
      • now you are in the in root of CD drive. Double click the SETUP.EXE there and it should circumvent the autorun menu, and install without it.
