Re: Either a bug or a graphics prob. . .

Well, Just to let you guys know, vanilla BF2 worked fine with the stuff on mostly low (some on medium) when I had 512 mb of RAM, kinda wierd, anyway I fixed the prob, I had to turn my lighting down to low instead of medium, it worked fine before but it all of a sudden snapped.

Well the game looks pretty good on low, but effects and geomatry are on meduim now, lighting low, I can't wait till I get a new compy! (wich might be 100 years for all I know)

Ok guys here are some screens of my prob, this only happens when lighting is on medium (really weird)

this is the sniper. . .

          this is the M16A2. . .

          And the SAW. . .

And it happens with a bunch of other guns, except the ones with red dots...

I'd like to know what you think...:hmm:

            i think i had this :

i think i solved it by downloading the omega drivers or doing alot of spyware / adware / virus scans and defrags

Well the thing is, I don't really know what ATI drivers I need to download, I tryed some of them, but they didn't really work, if you have a link to the download for X300 mobilities, I'd REALLY aprreciate it:) :) :)

Hey PhiliusX6 you said you fixed the problem by lowering the settings? That's great. I'm thinking of getting that same Inspiron except maybe with only a gig of ram, how are your framerates at your settings? I didn't think it would play bf2, but apparently it does, pretty cool.

Hey theguy, well, to tell the truth, I wouldn't get an inspiron, tell me how much your willing to spend and I'll recommend whatever I can think of,

the inspiron 6000 is clearly now meant for gaming at all, I'm curious on why you want an Inspiron when you have a pretty nice rig right now (the one in your sig)

The frame rates for BF2? stuff on medium (vanilla BF2) 15-25 fps (what I useally play with) stuff on low? probably about 30-45 fps (not absalutly sure)

it's very annoying cause my computer always switches the settings back to all low if you don't touch the settings for a while,

if your thinking about getting an inspiron 6000 with a 64mb vid card and 1 gig of RAM, I'll just say this, you won't be getting the best preformance you could get for the money your spending, tell me how much you will spend and I'll see if I can find a better compy for the same price ( just offering ) , if your just interested in getting a laptop for gaming, it's not the way to go, hope this has helped!:)

Re: Either a bug or a graphics prob. . .

That'd be cool man. Actually I'm just getting an inspiron for college, i'll still have my desktop (although I think its gonna die soon cause its making some wierd sounds). The Inspiron seems to be the best deal I have found.

Well the one I was planning to get has these specs:

                      Intel® Pentium® M Processor 735 (1.70GHz/2MB Cache/400MHz FSB)
Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
2*256mb ram (I'll replace with a gig from newegg which would cost another $70 on the total)
                      60GB 5400rpmHard Drive
                      24X CD Burner/DVD
                      ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X300 64MB HyperMemory (is the 128mb version worth the extra $69?)
                      9 cell (80WHR) battery

It totals $998 before taxes. I've looked around and I can't find much that beats it for this kind of price.

umm the 128mb version is worth it. but if you could get a better overall card that would be best.

I agree the 128 mb version is definitley a lot better.

Its kind of steep paying an extra $70 for the 128mb version, oh well.

Anyway, Philius, I reread your post and realized your problem isnt solved yet. Try installing the Omega drivers. First remove your old drivers, restart, then install the radeon drivers from http://www.omegadrivers.net/ . I think that these drivers work for all types of radeon cards including the mobility ones. Make sure you completely remove your old drivers.

hehe hey guys, well I fixed the prob, I took about 2 hours doing virus scans with AVG and norton, and then I defraged it like 5 times, and that did the trick! well I'll try the driver thingy, I hope it works (I"m not very good with the whole driver thing, lol) but yes, the 128mb card is DEFFINETLY! worth it! trust me, you will regret it if you don't, like it will play BF2 and other games alot smoother, and if you use photoshop at all, it's good for that too, (and I just hope your not going to collage for graphic design!):)
