    Luck and bf2

Ok now I know im probably going to get a bunch of replys saying that its just skill not luck but im gonna post this anyways.

So much of this game depends on luck in my opinion. Skill is a major factor of course but I feel that sometimes luck is an even bigger factor. Good luck and bad luck that is.

I will give an example of one game I have played where I feel luck had a major part:

Ghost town. I spawn as sas on oil rig point. I get in boat. I go to shore, as soon as I hop out it says Alcorr is no more, (my boat killed me).

I spawn at main base. For some reason enemy commander artys me when its just me in our home base. I die.

I spawn at south bridge point. Well it turns out the point was being decapped by the spetz. Our commander artys/teamkills me. I die.

I spawn in center point. I get spawncamped. I die.

I spawn as a sniper in a forward point. I run two feet, I turn around the corner and a support hits the ground (prone) and hoses me, I get off two shots with my pistol before I die.

Now I just died 5 times. And it was because of luck. And for some reason that kinda stuff seems to be happening to me alot lately.

And luck can be seen in other ways as well. For example alot of people have died/got kills because a guy was hit by an m95 and then hit one time or hit one time and then someone else gets the kill because he hits the guy with an m95. If you know what I mean.

    Thoughts?

Yeh, it's kinda annoying. I remember spawning 4 times and dying within 4 seconds after spawning because it was being de-capped or there were spawncampers. I still think you should spawn away from the battle so you can actually spawn and get somewhere.

Also I remember spawning round the corner from a tank and them him seeing me because when you drop you are a little higher up so I was visible above the top of a crate :p

Yea but what you gonna do.

At least your better off than in CS, where you round a corner and immediately die because a guy that wasn't particularly good at the game was spamming the AK and the insane programmed in random deviation of the gun landed a shot in your noggin. Also you are dead for the rest of the entire round.

Had luck in a match 2 nights ago that was priceless and worth putting in here:

8v8, Songura Stalemate 16, TWL match. We're on China, won USMC side 51-0, but are worried that the BH will do to us what it did on the 1st side...

We take the transport helo to ram their BH off the bat. The engy inside (2 man crew) tosses out mines along the north road, taking out 3 guys in an APC (some luck there). The ram fails, as the crew bails before liftoff, but my guys steal the BH only to get shot down trying to flee. I drop an arty strike that takes out the BH and 3 waiting enemies within seconds of the BH spawning. Our helo makes run #2, kills the guys w/the minigun, steals the BH. I've already dropped arty strike #2 on the pad, and sure enough, get those same 3 guys again, seconds after they spawn. We held the BH the rest of the map and rolled to a 73-0 side and 2-0 win :) :) Never have had that kind of luck/timing with attacks and arty, not to mention 2 times in a row..

"Luck" (better termed as seemingly random chance) is a part of everything. Not just games, but real life too. The other night I slashed my thumb open while crushing and empty spagetti can.
I did not curse the universe for it favoring luck over skill.

It's also a very old solger's creed: "It's better to be lucky than good".

Oh god yes. I have had some great games, scoring lots of points and enjoying it. I felt really happy with myself as you would, I was looking forward to my next game (later that day).

Nothing better to bring you back down to earth than dying five or so times in a row. Bombed, arty'd, spawn camped, noob-toobed, etc. Basically, just the way the cookie crumbles

Lobby DICE to provide 5x as many spawn points? Obviously they need to be tied to the capture points...I'm not suggesting random spots on the far edges of the map.

On Wake, for example, they could spawn me on the roof of those one story huts/buildings. It may not help with the arty, but it helps a bit with enemies and spawn camping.

This one seems easy to implement.

Or... be a squad member and spawn on your squad leader. Problem solved if youre lucky enough to have a good SL.

When I played bf-42 one game I would be 1st place and the next one of the lowest. All has to do with your team and luck. Also has to do with your surroundings.Like if your little sister is knawing your arm as you try to play thus you will have an awful score...

I think the good and bad luck balances itself out and you are left with skill. The worse aspect of this is whether or not an entire team is balances. If not, it can be a boring game on either side. You get frustrated getting your butt kicked, but on the other hand it's boring winning 150-0 and the top players has 17 points.

OMG this happened to me several times. Also, more times than I care to remember I spawn looking into a barrel of a tank gun. All I can do is open my umbrela and wait for the anvil to drop :p

O that reminds me, another thing with luck in this game is parachuting on top of teammates.

Now on the air spawn tking teammates accidentally is common (warlord). But what are your chances of in the same round parachuting off a building and dropping directly on top of a teammate twice in the same round!!!

-8 for doing nothing but jumping and hitting my parachute button lolz.
